Has anyone that has used Mike Everson's water pump kit ever needed a pulley spacer?

I'm using a professional products balancer, part number 80007. I was told by my engine builder that I may need a spacer in order to get my pulleys all on the same plane. Does anyone have any experience with Mikes kit and using a spacer.

I have the March Performance pulley set and still had to purchase a spacer for the balancer pulley. I think I used a 7/8" spacer. Not uncommon to need one.
