Hi Henry,
I'm really looking forward to following along with you on this one. I have a ton of interest in the new Gen-3 coupe.
Do you have a pseudo build plan that you're willing to share at this point?
Have fun with it.

Raise your right hand and say after me,
"I (State your name), do swear/affirm, that upon acceptance of this "Revered Coupe Jacket", will willingly subject myself to all manner of frustration and abrasion that my FFR Type 65 will provide. I further pledge that any and all fellow Coupe builders will have free reign in using the cash available in my wallet as they see fit to improve my build plan. I will not look down upon our fellow Roadster builders, but rather take pity on those not talented enough to build a race car with a roof, So Help Me God!"
It is my pleasure to present you with the "Revered Coupe Jacket", Here's your sign!!

What is the difference in headroom and legroom between the Gen 2 and Gen 3 cars?
Henry,
You have all of the dream parts that are on my build list. Great combination of items top to bottom!
Getting ready to either take a deal on a Gen 2 or sign up for a Gen 3. I am 6'2" , 230 pounds and want to know how I could squeeze into a Daytona.
Any Daytona drivers out there that are my size that validate headroom and legroom?
A big thanks for any advice.

Thanks Shooty,
The Gen III's definitely have more legroom/headoom and the entry/exit is much easier. The wheel well intrusion at the back of the doors is much less which makes it roomier. The decision between a Gen II and Gen III can be difficult. If money is an issue, Gen II's will be bargains because folks may want to upgrade to Gen III. If not, Gen III is the way to go IMHO. Do you have the knowledge, tools and ability to build one? If not, it may be a while before a Gen III goes up for sale. You see how far mine is and I already have someone that wants to buy it and I am not selling (yet:>)). Best bet is to look locally to sit in both versions to make an informed decision. I see in your other post your time frame is end of this year which gives you the time to investigate.

Shooty,
Where are you located? There are coupes all over the USA and coupe owners are generally quite happy to let someone sit in their car. FYI, I had a Gen 1 coupe that I drove for 18,000 miles of smiles. I'm 6'2", 210 lbs with a 33" inseam. I had the Kirkey low back vintage seat mounted on the floor as far back as it would go. I had plenty of legroom and when wearing a helmet, the helmet would just brush the headliner ... not an issue, but it was noticeable. The Gen 3 floor sits roughly 2.5" lower so that would be additional headroom. The Gen 3 door is 3.5 " longer which does help with getting in and out. I sold my coupe about a year ago and have the new Gen 3 on order. Pros & cons ... the Gen 3 frame is much stronger than Gen 1 & 2, but is no longer the round tube ladder style chassis that is more period correct. So the choice is up to you! If you would like to ask any questions, please send me a Private Message on this website and I will give you my cellphone #.

That's some really good progress Henry. Also, is that a Litespeed in the background?
65 Cobra Dude
01-25-2017, 12:26 PM
Thanks Jacob and good eye. It's an Eddie Merckx built by Litespeed to his specs. Great bike to ride. I also have a Guru carbon fiber bike that is super lite and fast with Zipp 600 wheels and Dura Ace components.
Henry
Thanks for posting the "flipped" shifter picture.

Finished the fuel system today and ran the rear brake lines to the front. Did not hook up to master yet because the pedal box needs to come out one more time. Also put the air filter system on and the pax header. Alternator needs to come off to put on drivers header.

Enjoying your build a lot. Keeping my eye on the new Coupe. One question though. Isn't that kind of a lot of the slip joint showing there on the transmission output? Looks like the driveshaft is 1 or 1-1/2 inches too short. Is that the Factory Five standard issue for the Coyote/TKO/IRS combination?
65 Cobra Dude
01-30-2017, 10:31 AM
Good catch Ed. The Coyote, IRS driveshaft is not complete yet.

Thanks Len,
The Coyote pedals have been know to break if you mash them. I have replaced more than one pedal for that very reason (not mine of course :>)).

Congrats on getting your Coupe Gringo. You need both 1/8 and 3/16" clecos. Mostly 1/8 but a few (10 or less) 3/16 help out..

Is it me, a picture angle, or does the Passenger side of the engine sit higher than the driver side?
65 Cobra Dude
04-17-2017, 08:00 PM
Nah, it's a combination of the angle and the intake cover is not all the way down. There is a bunch of wires on that side that I have since culled. I'll post some more pictures this weekend. I have done quite a bit since those pics. I am very very close to first start.
Thx,
Henry

With a nod to Happy Gilmore... "Nah, it's because you only have one shoe on!"
Sorry, I had to.
To be serious though, I think it is an optical illusion.

First start today. I'll get a video on this week. I know I have been delinquent in posting but work keeps getting in the way. All the interior aluminum is in but one piece and the rear hatch and battery trap door is in. Wiring is close but dash is at powder coater and should be back this week. Ready to go cart once I put the brake fluid in and bleed the brakes. Hard to keep up with Erik Treves but trying. I have to admit I am a little gun shy because of the recent blown Coyotes But I bought the 2015 adapter which allows me to put the filter on the block so I should be OK...
Thx,
Henry
