Hello

I know someone smarter than me has installed the Vintage Air Gen 2 mini in their roadster. Please help!!!!

I'm looking for a template or measurements to use before I cut the giant hole in my firewall for the evaporator. I'm trying to find the best spot and there are no templates with the unit. I mocked one up on cardboard but no place to mount seems right without blocking the bottom intake vents.

I see that I have to cut out the center dash support but hope nothing else.

Anyone else do this that can point me in the right direction?

Thank you

I personally do not know of anyone doing a gen2 mini in a MK4. You can look at my build thread for the Northracecars A/C install. It is a very different animal than the vintage air unit. Best of luck with the install.

Is this the one you are doing?

The first picture was blurred for me, just scroll through and the next one is clear.

That is just like Northracecars unit. Not the mini gen 2

Actually, that unit I linked was originally sold by Nick Smith and later Whitby Motorcars sold it but Vintage Air stopped making some of the parts so it is no longer available.

I installed the Vintage Air unit that Whitbys sold. There was very little margin for error in the placement of the template to cut the hole in the firewall. I did a goggle search and from the info I read it looks like your unit does not need to have the firewall cut. Just holes for the AC and heater lines. But just looking at the dimensions I would think you would need the firewall forward kit to allow for the extra room needed behind the dash. If you can figure it out please post your results as I know many would be interested.

I too would welcome any information about installing this unit, if you are willing. Pictures, descriptions, etc. would help as well. Thanks in advance for any help you are willing to provide!

Steve
