View Full Version : Cold air intake for EFI
Has anyone used a cold air intake for a stock 302 EFI and cut down the tubes.? I am wanting to install one on my car but I want to turn the filter where it is under the fender and behind the wheel well.
Thanks

Hi Walt! All kinds of air intakes have been done on these cars! The problem is that there isn't an easy place to get cool air like you can in a typical Mustang. Whatever you do, try to get at least a 6" straight run of pipe before the mass air meter. Check a couple threads for engine porn or cold air intakes on the forum. I'm sure there are a pile of images.

Would the added bend in the tube to run the filter out to under the fender, not actually make it longer than the stock EFI intake? The stock EFI one, isn't really that long to begin with. I added a heat shield over the header to help, and have had no issues in 5 seasons of driving.
I have had the same setup as yours Bill, but with J pipes , the filter has been kind of stuck into the alternator wiring connectors and I am afraid it is going to break a hole in the filter, I have a chrome cold air kit that came from my Mustang and would like to use it to fix the problem.
Thanks for the input guys , I do like the idea of the heat shield!
