Happy New Year everyone! I may skip the TV and focus on the build this weekend. Today's topic: the fuel regulator. Specifically, where to mount it. It would appear from what I've seen here that most put it in the center of the firewall and some put it directly behind the PS head (on the firewall, of course). What about the driver's side? I'm planning to run my fuel lines through the transmission tunnel in the upper left-hand corner, so it would be convenient to mount it closer to the hard lines. The heater is sort of in the way on the passenger side.

My concern is that if I mount it there I might regret that later (as in something else needs to go there). Suggestions? Thanks! (Build log updates coming soon...)

I had a Catch Can (about the same size) mounted there with no problems before I simplified the crankcase vent system.. On the pressure regulator, not sure but it might be directional with fuel flow from PS to DS. If so you will need to be careful on its placement to keep the plumbing simple.

You could probably make it work any of those locations. Just have in mind where you will be putting your power distribution box as well. I followed EdwardBs lead with positioning my items on the firewall. It has worked out great. He has some good pictures in his build thread.

From a safety standpoint, generally it's not recommended to have either fuel lines or brake lines in the transmission tunnel. Might want to reconsider that. Really want to keep them away from the spinning driveshaft.

As far as where to put the regulator, it can go pretty much anywhere there's room. Mock everything up starting with components that have mandatory locations (like the heater you mentioned) and just work it down from there.

Your point is well taken. I routed the brake lines on the frame rather than in the tunnel for that very reason. I know that a number of builders have gone tunnel vs. frame rail and have been debating that point in my mind for a while. Now's the time to decide...
