Does the Moser 8.8 rear from FFR come complete and assembled?
What carrier is included?

It should come complete with Ford OEM parts, powder coated (that's HTC's core business), and assembled. I purchased the 8.8 axle option from FFR who drop ships from their supplier High Temp Coatings (HTC) in Whitman, MA. The axle housing (the only recycled part) was heavily pitted from rust so I'd not go this route again. I called the boys at HTC after ordering the base axle and had them do some upgrades for me. Moser 31-spline axles with c-clip eliminators, TrueTrac limited slip, a Moser yoke for 1350 u-joints, and without the powder coating as I modified the housing for my purposes. HTC does a good job assembling but the selection of a very rusty housing was a disappointment and would not be acceptable if I was making a show car.

I've got their TSD-500 and it was completely assembled.

I just had to pull the axles to install the brakes which was easy because this is a Dana 44 style unit so it doesn't have C-Clips.

Also, if you use this rear end you must shorten the driveshaft.

This is a concern with the MK-4 and FIA's since this chassis uses an already crazy short driveshaft.

Finally, if you go down this path Check Your Pinion Angle because mine was off so I had to come up with a creative solution.

Sorry, but I don't think they have the Ford 8.8 unit any longer.

Partsman,
The Moser 8.8 rear ends we sell are completely assembled new castings, with 3.55 gear traction-loc differentials from ford performance.
Give us a call tuesday if you have any further questions.
Thanks and Happy New Year!

Jay,

Is the Ford 8.8 for the 3 link set up or independent style chunk?

Moser parts are all for solid axle builds. Pretty sure this is the one Jay is talking about: http://www.moserengineering.com/complete-rear-end-assemblies/part-ffr88331-3-8-8-ford-3-link-complete-rear-axle-assembly-for-factory-five-cars.html

The Moser 8.8 is available for 3-Link and 4-Link. They come standard width or narrow width(for high offset deepdish wheels or original style pin-drive wheels.
We do also sell 15' IRS Center Section and Spindles/Hubs Packages from Ford Performance. These are available with 3.55 Traction-Loc or 3.73 Torsen differentials.
Thanks again!

That's what I thought but wanted to verify

At the time I ordered my kit, delivered February 2015, neither Moser nor Factory Five was offering a New Ford 8.8.

Had it been available I would have likely gone for that unit instead of the Moser TSD-500 piece.

Glad to see that this is unit is offered to give folks additional options.

It's nice to have the upper bracket welded in place.

Jay Kravitz,
Does the Moser 8.8" 3 link rear end option offered by Factory Five incorporate bolt-in style axels or c-clips to retain the axels?
