Quick question for y'all:
How do you fasten the transmission tunnel to the firewall? Looking in the manual it just mentions riveting it to the floor, but I am hard pressed to believe that you wouldn't fasten the flange to the firewall. Also, anyone have any pictures of their transmission tunnel fitment against their front floor panels?
Thanks for the help.

it fits, put some muscle into it, cut big enough holes so the wiring harnesses do not interfere. You can riv nuts, screws or rivets, use silicone to keep it snug and keep rain out. I used 1/4 20 screws so I can get it out, you know it will need to come out at some point and the screws let you tighten it good.

Another question on the transmission tunnel, I have all of my wires running through a hole in the top center of the tunnel as per the manual, how has everyone sealed around the wires to avoid fumes/heat coming into the cabin?

I used black GE silicone.
You may want to look at sealing grommets (these are somewhat similar to what the OEMs use). I usually get mine from McMaster-Carr.

Thanks Wallace, that will probably be the route I go.
NAZ,
Did you separate out each of the cable bundles into individual penetrations in order to use grommets? Right now I just have them bound together through a single hole and will probably do like Wallace did and silicone the crap out of them. Individual penetrations would have taken too much space it seemed and left some thin flimsy pieces of fiberglass in between.

Darth, I've been using grommets for years on many projects with wire bundles of various sizes, tubing, and other items. The last one I used was for a 1 ⅝" diameter wire loom. I've also used black silicone for small penetrations where there was no chance of the hole chafing or cutting the wires and the penetration was hidden. Smearing some chicken-giggle all over a bundle of wires is not a very attractive way to seal a penetration. Grommets are a better approach, especially when dealing with more than one or two wires. And one larger wire loom vs. multiple bundles is my preference.
If you don't have the grommet of your choice, then cut hose or tubing long ways and make your grommet.

I did use a grommet then the silicone on my 33. I put all the wiring thru one grommet then sealed it up.
