Recently there was a thread regarding the cover of the trunk area with fabric available either from Amazon or Menards My question is how much material is needed?
Thanks
Doug

I ordered a piece 15ft x 4ft wide and have enough left over for probably 2 more trunks. Its not much to do the trunk.

I got a piece and was figuring I needed about 5' wide to give me plenty to trim. Well the roll was 12' long so I ended up with a piece 5x 12 and used roughly half. Of course the stuff I used was 39 cents per square foot so I was concerned about having just enough to get by. I think I had $24 total in this. I did one long piece that was basically the trunk floor and then used separate pieces for the walls.

Still have not gotten around to doing mine. Fabric has been sitting in the garage for over a year. Was curious how hard it was to do the floor in one piece.

Kevin. Is yours a Mark4? If so send the stock and I can cut you a pattern. I have a full size aluminum template

It was easy for me because I have no body on the car and easily took the roll bars out. Then I just cut around the shoulder harness and roll bar mounting brackets and worked my way back.
The aluminum template that Michael Everson has surely sounds like the way to go!

There is this cool thing, called a tape measure. With it, you can find out how wide the trunk is, and how long it is, from front to back.

I simply ordered an extra 2 yards of material from FFR. Simple and will match the interior. If I recall from my measurements it was something like 1.6 or 1.7 yards needed. A little extra for mistakes is always good.

Bought extra carpet from FFR for mine, too. They advised 2 yards.

I had a little left over after covering the floor, rear bulkhead, and sides....

Mike...does your template provide for coverage of all surfaces in the trunk (including the sides) or just the floor?

Thanks.

I have the floor and sides. The only thing I don't have is the back side of the rear wall.

I bought 2 yds from FFR and did mine.

.....then after I realized that I couldn't even fit a helmet in the trunk, I did the drop trunk mod and ordered some more carpet from FFR. <<<<<<HINT, HINT, do it now!!!
