Hi Guys,
What is everybody using for fuel tank/cell?
We have a MK4 challenge car which we use for trackdays maybe 3, 4 or 5 times per year, and up untill now we have been running the standard Mustang tank, but it keeps leaking from time to time on the pump, and level sender gaskets, and also on the filler opening, since the filler tube interferes with the rollcage bar that goes down the side of the tank.
Also a disadvantage is that when the tank only has a quarter left in it, the fuel runs away from the pump in long fast corners.
Considering to swap to a cell, but because the car is just for fun occasional trackdays, and not serious racing i'm a little hessitant to spend big money on a cell.
Maybe some of you have good solutions for the Mustang tank, or maybe know a used cell for sale?
Any input appreciated.

Fuelsafe makes a fuel cell that will bolt into the FFR, its ungodly expensive though.

Make sure the fuel cells have a collector/surge tank box in it with the fuel pump, that will eliminate fuel starvation.

I use the fuelsafe cell in my challenge car but in the 818R I use a Harmon Racing cell and I can vouch for their quality and that they use a good collector/surge tank and pump (I use 2 pumps in the 818R cell)

Thanks for the input guys, would any of you know used fuel cells for sale? I dont care if it will be a trunk fill, or if it can use the normal location.
Also, anyone ever try a sump kit like this?

Take a look at the Fuelsafe catalog -- there are lots of options. The standard 22-gallon Fuelsafe Spectra-Lite cell with a basic top fill in the same dimensions may save you $1,000+ over the special built cell for the FFR. I'd be careful purchasing a used cell as the bladders are only rated for five-years and designed for specific fuels, i.e. if you put alcohol in a gasoline bladder it can degrade the bladder. Unlike a metal tank, additives introduced to a bladder type fuel cell may not be compatible with the bladder material. You may never know for sure what was put in a used cell. If purchasing a fuel cell designed specifically for your car is not a "must have" get creative with what you chose. Shop around with the other manufacturers and you may find a cell that fits your needs at an attractive price. If it doesn't have to be 22-gal you have more options. And if you do purchase a used cell and want to take it apart to inspect it -- BE VERY CAREFUL and follow the procedure for removing the foam, this is a safety issue.

I have a love/hate with fuel cells. It never fails that each year 2 or 3 of our customers have a cell that just starts leaking while sitting in the garage. They are usually barely out of date when this happens so budget another 900 dollar item for regular replacement when you go to a cell. My MK1 challenge car had a cell that was a year out of date and occasionally leaked a drop when I bought the car. I dropped the box to pull the bladder, lifted the fuelsafe out and found that the only thing holding the bladder together was being trapped in the box. It unfolded like a box that hadn't been taped and instantly dropped 10 gallons of fuel on the shop floor. I'm pretty lucky to not be burned alive by my "safety equipment."
