Got the engine in this afternoon. Temporarily, but it is in. You can read the whole story here: http://thefactoryfiveforum.com/showthread.php?18361-Al-C-s-MK4-Coyote-Build if you're so inclined. now that you have the background we can get to the matter at hand! Take a look at this photo:

The head is quite close to the steering shaft. In fact, the local wires are hitting the shaft. Have you run into this problem? If so, how'd you solve it? Maybe we screwed up in the install? I'd feel better if there was more clearance. Full disclosure: I didn't do a search to see if anybody else posted about this in the past. My bad (maybe). I just threw this out there... I'm using the FFR power steering rack.

This is normal. There are motor mount spacers that need to be installed. I am aware of there different styles.

One style goes between the motor mount and the frame.
One style goes between the motor mount and the engine
The newest style is integrated into the motor mount by disassembling the mount, adding a spacer in the mount, then reassembling.

If you purchased the FFR coyote Kit the spacers should be in the kit.

IF not give them a call and they will set you up.

This is a simple fix, don't be alarmed.

If you look at this thread, post 442 you will see the spacer that is integrated into the mount.

Agreed you need to have the engine spacers installed for overall proper engine placement. But this specific point is also addressed in the FF Coyote installation manual. "On the left side of the engine, remove the wiring harness holder from the stud on the front of the head; it will hit the steering shaft after install." Once the harness holder is removed, pull the harness away from the steering shaft and you should be good to go. I put a tie wrap through the hole left by the removed holder to keep the harness out of the way. It's still tight, but everything clears.

Also depending on when you got they kit they have within the last few months redesigned the engine mount spacers for the coyote. I think the new ones are a big improvement. I would check to see which version you have and consider getting the newest ones. EdwardBs build thread has good pictures of the newest version.

Thanks, guys. I got the engine in June, 2016. We didn't put any spacers in place. (that's what happens when you have Chevy guys helping...) I need to get everything organized today after the mess we created yesterday. I suspect they'll show up.

Just for clarification the spacers come with the kit. Engine purchase date does not matter. The coyote install instructions I referenced had a mid June revision date and used the new spacers. My kit was delivered late June and still came with the old spacers. I believe it was about August before they stated sending the newest out.
