View Full Version : Anyone expecting Stewart next week?

My MKIV was completed at FFR on Oct 15th and has been waiting on Stewart for delivery. They're down two drivers and it's had a pretty significant impact on their ability to deliver the last month or so. Not a huge deal, I'm obviously anxious after Courtnie sent pics of my car on the rack at FFR, but I'm not under any kind of time crunch.

After discussions with Stewart, my car will be on next week's load that heads out of Wareham on Monday. I'm in southeastern WI and was told I should see the truck either Thursday or Friday. Is anyone else expecting delivery next week? If so, where are you located?

Hi TJ! I was told I'm in the first stop in Virginia. Hopefully that means I will see her early next week.

Hey Scott,

Was yours built around the same time as mine and waiting on Stewart of did things line up a little better for you?

TJ,

I am not quite sure what Scott's build date was but when he called to check on delivery he was kind enough to check for me also. My build date was Oct 22 and I will be the third delivery in Virginia on next weeks truck.

Wow, three just in Virginia. I'm curious how many they can get on a truck. I'm sure it's dependent on which FFR model, base vs complete kit, and how many extra accessories people bought.

I wish I was as close as Virginia, I would have definitely picked it up right from Wareham. I mapped/costed out several options to pick up myself; fly out and drive rental truck back to WI, drive out and back with my own car hauler, drive out but rent uhaul trailer back, etc... In the end, it was just going to take too long off work just to bonzai out there and back for the short time I'd be able to see the factory. I figure after my car is built I'll take a week off and drive out to their open house.

Made the trip, from N IL last year, left at 2am, got to hotel at 8pm. Next day took tour, left at 11am, slept 4 hours at rest area in Ohio, was home by 10am. 2200 miles, 2 1/2 days door to door, about $600 for gas and trailer, wouldn't hesitate to do it again.

I lucked out in that my completion date was 11/5. They usually put 7-10 kits on each truck load. Which is way more than I expected!

I still kind of wish I had done this but too late now... My main reason for not wanting to do the drive is I just purchased a brand new Jeep Grand Cherokee. Loading up 2200+ miles in the first couple weeks of ownership didn't seem like a good idea. Still want to see the factory though.

You can always make a roadster road trip in a few years

Also, if you pick it up you have to pay MA sales tax

Not unless something has changed since '09 when I picked mine up - I only paid sales tax in IL when I disclosed the purchase to the state (i.e., as part of my registration process).

Yeah FF has a disclaimer now about picking up. Said I would need to pay MA sales tax. Maybe I misunderstood

I was expecting them this week but alas I am still waiting on Transport Canada to give me my approval to import. Its been 5 1/2 weeks since I made my request to them. I know anticipation is part of the process and I have been enjoying it and getting the "Nursery" ready plus building the Buck, but this is getting painful.

Oh really? Did you talk to Stewart? They're not going to get the current truck empty until early next week(Mon/Tues). I'm car 7 of 9 I believe and expecting Gerry Sunday or Monday.

This is 100% accurate, I had a very long discussion with FFR about this and there was even a thread about it on the other site. Generally speaking you pay the taxes not matter what depending on your state, and you should never get double-dipped. It's either pay during pickup to MA, or to your own state during registration. SAVE RECEIPTS! :)
I've registered other vehicles like this in WI and never had to pay though, so I'm wondering how this is going to work in the end...

Stewart told me today that pick up is on Monday and I will have it before thanksgiving. If what you are telling me is true, then I wouldn't be surprised if my wait gets extended again. Which would be the third time.

8977 was dropped off at my house this morning. My kit was stacked three high which the driver said was rare so the truck was defiantly full. He did an incredible job of unloading, it was quick and professional. He even put duct tape on my jack stands to keep from scratching the powder coating. My kit was a couple of weeks late but it was worth the wait, best morning ever!

It's almost time.... Gerry is about 30 minutes away in Racine, WI dropping off a car. He should be here at 9am and then has either one of two more drop-offs today in IL. I'll try to get him on the road quickly for the next couple stops.
