So I have a Roadster up for sale on ebay. One of the guys bidding wants to know if its on a Mustang frame. I told him FFR never built a Cobra on a Mustang frame. Here is his last response after several emails.
Me:
"You are misinformed. FFR has never used the mustang chassis. I have been working with them since 1997. They always used a tube frame. Please check with them for more info"
Ebay user:
"I'm sorry but I guess I'm not being clear with you. You never stated in your auction it was on a FF frame. And you are wrong, the FF MK bodies are designed to fit over Mustang frames, hence why people ask if it's a donor frame. Yes, I know you can buy a tubular FF frame, I've had about 30 of them. Again, you never stated that it was a FF frame, that is why I asked."
Here is my last response to him
"So out of the 30 that you had, how many had mustang frames? I have built over 60 FFR products and know them well. I repeat, THEY NEVER MADE A COBRA ON A MUSTANG FRAME. Call and ask them. You are misinformed."
Moron. Told him to call FFR and ask.

Mike,
Don't let this joker get under your skin. Some people are too ignorant to know that they are ignorant.

He has had 30 factory five cars (or so he claims) and doesn't know that donor car means parts not frame. Even I know that much.

That's Funny!
Just think, these people are allowed to vote too, but I digress.
Anyway, it doesn't surprise me!

Cutting up a uni body mustang to use as a frame would be a nightmare.

Mike, just looked at the listing on ebay. The car is beautiful , you did a great job. This guy is just a tire kicker, time to just move on. You'll find a buyer for a car like that , done so well.

My feeling is that he is a dealer maybe. Even at that I would never buy a car from him.

I second this statement. I had 2 guys argue that my Type 65 Coupe was a Volvo at a car show once. It is best to just let it go but easier said than done. Mike you do excellent work and someone who is knowledgeable will always recognize good work. The others are just a PITA.

It's those darn kits out there that use the donor chassis, that gave kit cars a bad name in the first place. That's why I believe the FFR marketing department, and the builders of them, should refrain from calling our cars a kit.
I think it should be called a "component racing car". Further explanation would be that it's a replica that can be built for street or track, using several supplied custom made components including the frame, in conjunction with either new or used parts, supplied by the builder.
COMPONENT: com·po·nent; noun
-a part or element of a larger whole, especially a part of a machine or vehicle.
I know it's hard to get away from using the word kit, but next time somebody asks, "Is it a kit?" Say "No"..:)

Gee, I never had anyone argue that my Volvo was a Type 65...

There is no way that someone like that is an actual buyer. I really don't understand people that ask all kinds of questions when you post something for sale on ebay or Craigslist with no intention of buying. Are they THAT lonely?

Experienced the same dumb arrogance on several occasions where owners of "supposed" top tier component Cobras claimed they were real ones because Shelby endorsed the car's South African original-manufacturing standards or other company's car's bodies were allegedly made from real molds...and dismissing FFR as a kit...
