Your 289 car was seen at VIR. I guess it made it back home?

It is my understanding that at least three people mentioned it to Dave at the open house :D ...With no prodding from me no less :D ...........

There was a car up in the fourth tier that had a cover over it. The cover said something like "Don't tell Bill S."

Bill, a couple of us were awaiting the ribbon cutting for the scratch n' dent sale and so, to not tip our hand by staring at the item we were about to sprint in to get, we were all looking up. There were 5 or 6 cars and one in particular, we started to puzzle over. White gel coat and a peculierly long nose and different mouth. Yes, it sure looked like a 289. We theorized that it was one of Bruce's bodies on a FFR frame.

So now, you know to ask Dave about the 3rd level car near the end with a cover over it.

(Dave....you can't leave anything out. By the way.....where's that aluminum GTO body?)

If it wasn't for the weather, the banner plane would have flown over the open house

However, "Da Bunnies: are now on the case, they will get to the bottom of this sooner or later :D :D :D

I am slack-jawed that no-one noticed the black car in molding positioned so that anyone looking up to the shaping bay could see it...

I saw it, but was told it was a secret. ( I have actually seen it up close and personal:cool:)

Between this and FFinisher's comment, I gotta ask - what's the secret???? Is there going to be a 289 bodied FFR? If so, I'm going to hurry-up and finish my Mk3.1 so I can do a slab-side, wire wheeled street car with no scoop and under-car exhaust. Or will it be a full-on FIA racer with blistered trunk and complete track livery? So many decisions if this happens.

Chris,

This is an on going thing between Dave Smith and I (he made the mistake of showing a "Roadster CE" web page back in 1999 or 2000 with the caption "coming this summer", I have never let him forget it ), so let that be a compass to your next post....The old adage if it sounds to good to be true still rings true...However as for the rest, "Da Bunnies" (a super secret cobra oriented spy organization) are working on getting to the bottom of this. Dave Smith knows not to mess with "Da Bunnies" :D :D :D

Bill, you'll have to get in line. Gary Cheney gets #1 and I'm getting #2. Dave will probably keep #3 and since it's a limited edition (3 copies only), it would appear that you are S.O.L. Again!

I wasn't sure if i was allowed to tell... I actually asked one of the staff who owned the car... He said he wasn't sure and was looking for a way out LOL

Congratulations MyDream, you just posted a very newsworthy pic! There are a lot of details in that pic that are VERY interesting!!!

Roundtube front x-member means that's a current MKIV chassis.
Wheel flairs and mouth indicate a FIA bodystyle.

I had heard there was a surprise hint going on at the open house, and I believe you found it.

Looks like my FAVORITE body style might be seeing the light!!

I believe that body belonged to Mark, and he sold it on ebay about a year ago to fund his new endeavor.

I was told that everyone who was there in the rain -- that would be about 50 of us I guess -- would get first dibs on any new release. Da bunnies, who evidently are dissatisfied with their old loyalties (names to be withheld here to protect Bill S.) and looking for new avenues of espionage fulfillment (that would be moo-wah) told me this their veryownselves. Really. I know you find this hard to believe, but if you stand in the rain long enough that close to Cape Cod, the animals begin to speak to you in strange and wonderful ways.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled programming.

Existentially yours,

AJ

I smell set up and deception here as Dave attempted to do a year or two ago (I have the proof of what it was not thanks to "Da Bunnies").

A few other observations about this car:

No turnsignal pads below the headlights
Sharper flare line where it meets the front "wing"
Current chassis style for the upper control arm, driver's side footbox front panel, and tow eyes at front of frame rails - lending further speculation to the fact that this isn't some earlier left-over attempt at a 289.

But... notice that the front tab for the quick-jack on the passenger side doesn't come close to mating to the front of the body? Hmmmm. Maybe just storing an old body on a newer chassis? Makes for a nice conversation piece.

Dave - If you guys are really going ahead with a 289, I'm officially adding my name to the list of those who own two FFR kits.

Then there's this one...

I don't see any wheel flairs at all.
It looks like the body wraps underneith the frame like a MKIV, but that part of the body is black whereas the front portion of the body is white.
It kind of looks like there is wood in the supporting structure. It that a body plug?

Hmmmm......

:)
