I have a feeling the 818 crowd will have more younger people. About 10 years ago I discovered you can build these as a kit and it was game over for me. I have been racing Spec Miata competitively for the last 6 years or so. I would constantly joke "Maybe I sell the car, trailer, and spares, and then build a cobra". Then one day a couple months ago, I popped on the FF site, discovered the MK4 and realized it might actually be possible. So I sold it all, and ordered the cobra.
I was actually a little surprised to find that most of the builders were late 40's - 60's. I guess I'm on the younger side being mid 30's.

So I am looking into ordering a kit and the wife tells me that we're too young to be looking at a car like this. I need to wait until I retire (I'm 45). Sounds like she needs to get in, sit down and hold on!

I'm 53 and my wife was all in with doing this build and even pushed me to order the car.

I was 35 when I built mine in 2003, now I'm thinking about building another one.
64, always wanted but no time, money. Wife had cancer( cancer free but other problems) so i have been caregiver for four years. That will make you look at life and we both said better go for it !

53 here. I did not build this from the beginning but I may as well have. I pretty much tore it all back down and redid it to my liking. My first build on a kit car but my first car i built up was when I was 16. Been wrenching on them ever since. I have worked on many different cars but these are a different breed. The roadster just plain kicks butt and I have a grin a mile wide every time I go out.

I was 26 when I bought the Challenge car kit back in 2003.

One also needs to consider one's age when 'finishing' the build! I bought mine as a 40th birthday present to myself - I only registered this year and turn 50 next year. :D
28. Should be delivered next week!!
It's a tie! I'm 30 now, but had mine delivered two years ago.

I am 51 and I have wanted one for 30 years, so do I get to count as 21?:)
GoDadGo, That is exactly what happened to me. My Wife and Daughter asked me what I was waiting for and I couldn't come up with a reason anymore so my daughter sat me down and helped me push the order button! To many bad things have happened over the years and my only regret is people who I have lost that won't be able to see and experience the car, my motto is now Live Life!

42 now. 41 when I finished this one. I was 28 when I built my first one. A mark 2 completed in2002. I was 24 when I built my first car from ground up. A 1923 t roadster street rod. Welded up the frame and radius rods myself.
I quit messing with cars for many years seriously after I totaled the mark 2. I was in denial and scared. Finally I got serious again (other than tinkering with mustangs) and started the mark 4. I realize now that I was lying to myself for a long time. I missed it.

I'm 45 and just finished building and registering my Cobra. Tell your wife that I said 45 is a perfect age!! Life is too short to delay these important commitments!

If I buy a car for my twin 3 year old twin boys, does that make them the youngest owners? Oh wait, I guess I will have to build two...or is that three, one for me too...

This is not an MK roadster. My 16 year old son and I (54) pick up our two 818S on the on the same day.
His is finished, mine is in progress.

53 when the big box arrived on my doorstep. Would have loved to have had a roadster 30 years previously, but kids, mortgage, and life in general got in the way.
