View Full Version : RF Wiring Harness - Heads Up: plug wires swapped
Just a quick heads up. I haven't seen this posted anywhere so it may just be a single quality control issue but in finishing out my wiring checks I only had one issue: My temp gauge wasn't working. Everything else I did was perfect and I knew this was a simple connection so I suspected the thermostat was bad. Before I pulled it out I did a continuity check between the gauge and the block and found no connection. Tracking down the line uncovered a RF connector error. The water temp line and the fan thermo switch lines were swapped. Blue to teal and teal to blue. A simple fix and we are now confirmed on all wiring.

Well, I'm not the only one that had a strange RF Harness.
My rear wires for the trunk turned to the drivers side and not the passenger side as shown in the wiring manual. I ran it the way the colors and labeling suggested and it later turned out to work when tested. Never heard of anyone else having my quality control issue either.

Was your harness new in the box? I only ask because I have never seen them with Weather-pac connectors. Maybe this is something new?

My RF harness had all weather pack connectors. Got the kit in late June. Must be something new

That's a good thing. The old connectors were darn near impossible to get apart once connected

This is interesting. About a week and a half ago I was having issues getting my high and low beams to work properly. After doing some continuity testing on the RF wire harness, I discovered the red low beam and blue common wires within the weather pak connection were switched. Once I rewired them, all was good. A little frustrating but happy when things lit up. I will try to attach a pic.

Really glad they are finally going away from the old style connectors.
I had a swapped pair of wires on mine as well at the connector in the drivers foot box. Horn and Left turn signal were crossed. Both are green wires but different gauge sizes.
