Steering rack info on mk4 roadster

Hi i am building an mk4 roadster working on a 94 ps steering rack. The build manual said to cut 1.75 inches off the inter tie rod end and after taking measurements it doesn't seem like there is a lot of threads left . Can someone please help me asap. Lee doucet thank you

That does not seem right, I have the same rack in my MK4, and I didn't do any cutting. I used Breeze short tie rod ends.

Do you have the pin drive setup? If so, that may be correct. Even so, I would be inclined to start out cutting less at first, then reassessing things. You can always cut it again if necessary.
