For those that have installed under dash panels in their roadsters to improve the strength of the dash, how did you finish them off? Paint? Powder coat? Raw?

Thanks
Bill

I had mine powder coated at the same time I had the engine bay aluminum done. It's really not visible but cost was minimal to add to the order.

I used 8" anodized aluminum kick plate because it made it easy.
I just needed to do put a slight bend, via home made break, to make it match up perfectly.
You can see a couple of under dash pictures in my Chassis Album and it came out really nice.
ACE, Home Depot & Lowes have all sorts of colors to choose from plus Amazon has them too.
Everything else was painted black, but primed with self etching primer first.
No painting was necessary since the dash pieces were anodized.

When I rebuilt my dash (layout change), I made an extended lip of 4 inches to replace the 3/4 lip on the original dash. Dash and extended lip are one piece of metal, and the extension really stiffened up the dash without having to anchor it to the car. The covering material is wrapped all the way from the top of the dash to the back of the new extended lip.

Finished mine with left over dash material that matched the leather seats. Had to purchase 3 yards to cover dash so sent some off to Herb for door panels and covered bottom tray no padding.

sounds like things are coming along for you Bill looking forward to engine pics

I just rattle canned it black. you can't see it unless you'r on your back on the floor.

I used riv-nuts to attach to the dash, and velcro to attach to the frame in front.

Thanks Bill! Someday I may look you up (Maybe HB next year) for Compression and Camshaft configuration. This is the exact dressed motor I will build for the next FFR 289 FIA project

Used a full panel from one of the vendors here and left it in bare aluminum. It's not visible unless you are laying on your back with your head down in the footwell.

I did black vinyl so it matched my dash. You can get it a JoAnn fabrics. I did my dash with that too since I didn't like the padded look. I it s pretty close match. Just without the padding.
