Hello, I am a new member to the site but have been on a number of others. I have long wanted to build a roadster and have now been lucky enough to placed an order recently and am just waiting for delivery!

Arvin's correct and it's hard to get to sleep with all the plans in your head, sort of like a kid on Christmas Eve! What's coming? Roadster?

Yeah, haven't slept a wink and my Wife, bless her, is wondering if this was a good idea :) It's a roadster, carbed 408w, tremec 500, Levy 5link, haven't got a clue on the color!

Congratulations, the build will have its ups and downs. Let your wife pick the color, that will help ; )

Congrats!

Put your location in your profile. You could have another builder / owner close by. I have three!

How beefy is that 408? A TKO 600 is not much more. See. I am spending your money already.

Great advice. I think it's like only $100 more. I have a 408 with the 600.

Ok, profile is updated! The 408 should be good for close to what Arvin has. I was looking at the 600 recently and saw a statement that it will only fit with an IRS? its too long to work with a live axle?

Arvin, just read ALL of your profile and see you have the 8.8 solid axle. So the 600 fits well?

Congrats on your kit! TKO500 and 600 are the same size. TKO600 fits a solid axle build just fine. My #7750 build (link in sig line below) is a SBF build with TKO600 and Levy 5-link. 3000+ miles during the past two seasons. Awesome car. Love how it drives and handles.

Welcome To The Family!

1. Please remember to do a very detailed inventory when your kit arrives.
2. Don't just check that you have all of the boxes, but doing a piece by piece inventory is advisable.
3. No, you don't have to count each rivet.

Good Luck & Have A Great Build!

Thanks for the best wishes everyone, this is going to be fun (once I actually get it home!)

Edwardb, you have the same set up I have planned, how is the levy 5-linK on the street? How was the install?

I have nothing but positive feedback about the 5-link. it's probably overkill for my 99% street cruising. But it's rock solid, handles well, and the ride is quite comfortable. It's a great setup for a solid axle. The install was a pretty early one for the Mk4, but relatively straightforward. I don't weld. A mobile welder did the work on-site. Gordon is there if you need him.

Sounds good, my car will be 99% street too but IRS is not an option up here (not to mention cost!) and I plan to drive it as much as possible and want as much stability as I can get considering the 500ish HP I am planning on. Once I get to the rear end stage Gordon will be my first call, he also has a few other items I have my eye on! :)
