On my coyote harness install the alternator plug comes extremely close to the header. Both are obviously fixed locations and are the best I can do. The harness instructions caution about running the wires to close to a heat source. Can someone please suggest a way to heat shield this in some way? What have other coyote users done? This is with the FFR shorty headers.
Thanks

I have the exact same setup. I used some aluminum foil tape (3M from Lowes) and wrapped all the electrical lines around the pipes.

I use this aviation grade heat sleeve whenever wiring or fuel gets close to heat source. Works great

I didn't buy from here (found guy selling helicopter surplus one day) but looks like this:

I've used some stuff like this before. It does expand some, but I don't know if it will fit over that big plug/connector.

All good suggestions above. Before you decide, surf through the Summit Racing online store for even more examples.

Thanks everyone.
I'm leaning towards wrapping the header and putting something on the wire.
Anyone have experience with a particular wrap they would recommend?

I used this material for all wiring near the headers ...

http://www.mcmaster.com/#catalog/122/850/=1496lan

It is rated up to 1000 deg and can expand to 2 1/4 inches

There are a couple types that come up on that link. Which product did you use? What was the inner diameter? And are you saying it will stretch over the plug?

Thanks

I had concerns with header heat for a couple areas of the harness, and used DEI Cool Tape for them. Handles up to 2000*f ambient heat. No issues in 5+ years.

I used this stuff on my Dart, works great.

I use the type that comes flat w/ velcro along the edges. Cut to the length you need and fold it into a tube silver side out. Makes it real easy to insulate already installed lines, wires etc that you can't get an end loose. It comes in several diameters.
