I'm looking to make my own front splitter out of Alumacore. I've seen a number of cars at the track using this for splitters and rear diffusers as well. I like it because, theoretically, it is relatively inexpensive and if you damage it racing, it's better than ruining a $500 carbon fiber part.
I was told the material was inexpensive but I've had a tough time even finding a sign shop willing to sell me the material (as opposed to a printed sign) and the cheapest I've been able to find a 4x8 sheet of 5mm thick is $215.
So for those of you who have used this stuff before, what is a good price for a 4x8 sheet and where did you get it?
Thanks!

I am not familiar with the alumacore, but I have ordered a lot of stuff from Mcmaster-Carr.
Here is what I found for 4x8 6061 al. sheets. http://www.mcmaster.com/#standard-aluminum-sheets/=143eoy3 - a 1/4 inch ( 6.5 MM ) is 53 bucks.
Great support and fast shipping to boot !

If that does not work- Sometimes you can find Tegris from Nascar cars on Ebay. Old splitters and such. It's a great material for splitters.

Thanks Innkeepr - I use mcmaster a lot since they are local, but I don't think they carry alumacore.... this is alumacore:

My local graphics wrap/sign place had used alumalite signs in their recycle barrel. They were happy to sell me their scrap and even cut it out on their 4'x8' cnc router table after I gave them a cardboard pattern. It was no charge, but that's because I am a multi year customer for 3M clear bra on my DD's, and they do all my race car graphics work. It also helps that the owner is a long time super dirt late model racer.
If you look at the bottom of my splitter it has a chopper on it:

You could probably work the same kind of deal but pay $50.
