Delivery by Stewart Transport on 01/09/2010 not a typo 2010.
Original plan was to use many of the leftover Mustang parts I have and a used motor. But I think we know how that goes.....

And you are just now starting to work on it? Wow, you do have patience. Have you been in a coma for the past 6.5 years?! Sailing around the world? I started mine the very next day. I hope you make quick progress and have a great time doing it. We will look forward to following your progress. Welcome to the family.

No...just getting back to it. Work and family ate up all the free time so this project was pushed to the back burner. Having the car at the shop pushed in the corner was a killer and unfortunately it also gave me thoughts of "upgrades". Having CAD/CAM, CNC mills/lathes and fab. equipment at your disposal is a double edged sword.

I'll bet it feels good to get started finally. Hey, at least you didn't give up and sell it. Is that an MK3.1?

Fast forward to October 2012. Not much has happened to the chassis but the bodywork and paint is complete. Longtime friend and racer sprayed the classic Guardsman Blue and Wimbelton White.

A big accomplishment and could almost be considered to be in the home stretch. But that would only happen if I stick to the original plan.....

Original drivetrain plan out the window. I knew if I I did not do it the first time it would probably never get changed. So scrap the idea of the T5 and a used 5.0. Specs to follow....

After much debate a T-56 transmission was selected. With the close ratio gears it has a similiar gear spread as a TKO600. So even if 1st or 6th gear is a useless gear except off road or on the Autobahn, it will still have 5 useable gears.

Connecting it to the motor is a QuickTime bellhousing surrounding a Quarter Master Pro Series 7.25" 2 disk clutch. Which is actuated by a hydraulic slave cylinder from Mike Forte.

After lurking on the other Forum for several years I came across a post that a vendor was not able to find a supplier to manufacture his products. Being that my business supplies private label parts for the powersport, automotive and consumer products industry it was a good fit. After some conversations with Larry Casey we were supplying Casey Design their billet door hinges and modular dashes. Larry is an great guy and inventor at heart. Since finishing his Cobra some time ago the thunder was lost as his passion is building, racing and engineering for race cars. Wanting to regain the excitement, we came to an agreement for my business, Brown County Customs, to take over the Casey Design product line in August 2016.
The current products can be found here: http://bcconlinesales.com/ffr-roadster-parts.html I have quite a few new product ideas floating around and will post some teaser pics as they become closer to reality.

Here's where things start to go wrong.....

Looking at the 3/4" X bar used for side protection did not give a real feeling of safety but it might just be me having flashbacks of getting T boned in a MG Midget. So out came the sawzall and tube bender. Plan is to have 2 horizontal bars from the square tube at the firewall back to the door striker area. Except there is no solid structure. After taking smome measurements and a couple bends we now have a solid structure. This design will also allow removal of the tube that hits the tire on compression.

The lower bar

The upper bar will be approx. here but need to check a few more things for clearance.

I guess if I am going this far I might as well add some additional support from the firewall area to the front suspension. David Borden, I may have to shamelessly use some of your design.
