View Full Version : Trac-lock vs. Torsen

Title says it all - My plan is for a street driven roadster with occasional Auto-X days.
Is the additional expense of converting an IRS center section to a Torsen limited slip instead of the stock traction lock "worth it"?
Clearly easier to do before installation, hence the "inquiring minds want to know" question at the planning stage.

TIA!

Not if you have a Traction Lock that is in good shape, given the limited use it will have at any Auto-X.

I really like the torsen, and it gets rid of the low speed push on corner exit.

I've autocrossed and street driven my car extensively with both types of diffs. The Torsen is better over all, but the Trac-lok works really well in these cars for most use. Be sure to install fresh clutches if it's a used one.

So the Torsen works a bit better, and used Trac-loc should be refreshed. If I need to swap the gear set it sounds like the added cost to go Torsen vs. refreshing the trac-loc might not be that big.
Always new ways to spend my money!

Thanks for the input guys.
