Anybody have pictures of the car without the top? I'm curious about the mounting points and such. I understand that it isn't a quick job to pull the top off, but out here in the desert, we go very long stretches of time where a convertible top could be down. But when it rains, it rains so much I don't think I trust the soft top. It's fairly predictable, so I don't think I'd mind leaving the top at home (not like back home in Florida), but I'm trying to come up with the best solution.

Thanks

The 818c top includes the windshield and the rear decklid, so it is not something you would pull off for a day. You would need to remove it, install the roadster windshield, engine cover and the trunk lid. It would be a long project. The soft top seals well in my experience. Not perfect at highway speed, but fine sitting still during a short rain.

Ah. Thanks for the clarification. How wet do you get at highway speeds? When it rains out here, it rains, so it has to be reasonable for a long heavy drive.

You said you are in the desert, but where? If the Arizona desert you could come see my 818C.

I work in Scottsdale MWF. I would absolutely love to come check out your car! I need to catch up on some homework this week, but I should be able to make plans next week and later. Weekends take a little more planning, but I can swing it.

I had a half hour drive home in a light rain, but with soaked roads recently (so lots of spray from other cars). As water ran up the windshield, it seeped through the space between the soft top and windshield at highway speed (essentially the top pulls up a bit at highway speed and creates a small gap). I think this fitment can be adjusted again to tighten it up, but I haven't had a chance to look at it again. On the highway portion, I probably only had a couple ounces of water come in in total. It was more irritating than anything. Last 10 minutes of my drive home is on slower roads, so I was completely dry by the time I got out of the car.

I didn't notice water coming in anywhere else.

Thanks. I believe you are probably right about tightening it up, but it's good to know what I'm up against.
