I think you will need to contact Tasca, Dave did not say they would be though FFR, HE did not say that you HAD to get them through Tasca either, but that was the implication. I thibk they will have various options for you to wrok with,

I found this on the Tasca web site. It refers the the Tasca built F5R Hot Rod.
Half way down they list "Engine Packages" I guess these will be the same packages offered for the roadster.

If those are the prices that will be offered with the drivetrain packages, it seems kind of disappointing?
For example, they list a 450hp 347 w/ clutch&tranny for 17k. I got a 600hp (500RWhp dyno proven) 408w w/ quartermaster clutch and super alloy T5 for 18.5K.....only 1.5k more for a better clutch, tranny, and engine? *shrug*

@ $17k there are a lot of options other than these packages.
These prices are where I thought they would be. Even though the 340hp is a bit more than I thought.

WOW....Well those prices are a "Suprise" I guess I start looking elsewhere. That might be a good deal for upper class of people that get a FFR, but not for me and my government paycheck.

I think it's pretty safe to say that any warranty with an engine is virtually worthless unless you live close to the builder or are willing to ship the engine back to them ($$$$$$$ for shipping)

I suppose I could build up a bunch of 450 HP 347s out of low grade chinese cast parts along with 500k mile taxi-cab blocks and sell them for 1/2 to 2/3's the price...

In other words -

Most of the time you get what you pay for...

You want a dyno sheet? $$ You want forged parts? $$ You want the latest alloy heads? $$ You want a warranty $$ You want fries with that? $$

You get the picture....

Randy, is right in that it costs more to use good parts in your engine, but I think you can do better in other places. Keith Craft, Levy, and Forte all have good packages as well. Just more choices to make a decision on. You have to buy what works for your situation and how you use it..

Like I said Randy thats great if you got 20 grand laying around, I dont, I wish I did, should of stayed in College, but unless I want a divorce I cant spend that kind of money. Even then the plans would require a ski-mask and a water-pistol

I understand the get what you pay for and its true when its generic stuff. What you want to do is compare prices on known quality brands. If its MSD or Edelbrock or even a Ford Racing crate engine its come form the same place and is the same item you earn your discount by doing the buyers research. Good quality is going to cost so you have to buy smart when you can. People assume a package deal is a better price but use the Ronald Reagan system, trust but verify.

lets see engine and tranny for 16 g's plus i would want to see what the internals are on that. maybe the bearings are gold :)
did everything myself on my engine from the empty block up, maybe around 8000 grand and 2600 tranny/hyd. clutch. so ballpark around 11 for my drivetrain, still think it can be done for a whole lot less.

remember Lucky, you are still out in the lead, with a kit at no costs, so drivetrain costs to me would be insignificant if i was the lucky winner.
i think if you get the kit set-up for a sbf and a tko the engine combo will be a given.
and wait for the engine there is lots of time to build the rolling chassis, and that will add up with reciepts in a drawer.

Well Leo I already have my TKO600RR and just looking around for engine to mate it with. I have just the Sergeant Paycheck so things are still tight, but Im not complaining, I am very "Lucky" to have won. Then I went and up graded my win to a 15year special, so I have to pay the difference. Lets just say that if I wouldnt have won I would have got the base kit and it would have taken me a couple of years to build with donor parts. I refuse to put any donor parts in the 15year special, so Im trying to keep cost down, but at the same time trying to make it special, cuz its a 15year jobber and I know alot of people will be keeping up with my build once I return home. Still looking for a builder, looking close at Forte, he always is there answering my emails, and helping me out. Looking at the Coyote, just waiting to see if they get all the kinks out of the install. Anyways I guess what Im trying to say is that 17grand is way to much for me to spend so Im still looking around for a strong engine builder and a good price (dont need the wife leaving me over the car, Im kind of fond of her, plus shes way hot!!!)
