Melted scoop and ruined paint
Be careful about where those reflections end up.

Wow. That happened on my house. Sun reflecting off a sliding door was melting the siding.

I was bent over the engine bay at a summer time car show and felt my face was on fire.
It was the reflection off the concave area of the carb air cleaner.
Sure enough it was also reflected to the inside of the hood.
All a matter of circumstances and positioning, but definitely something to think about.
Sorry about the hood scoop but it will make a great conversation piece on the garage wall.

That has been a problem with corvettes, that is why most cover up the air cleaner on sunny days at shows.

That's shaped like a horseshoe, you sure they weren't just trying to escape ?
On a serious note, the newer Grand Cherokees have a bigger slope on the windshield for aero and several owners have had the seats scorched by a bottle
of water in the cupholders. More sun in and a full water bottle is a perfect magnifier of that energy, leather seats have been burned clear through.

Would getting the cover done in black chrome solve the issue.?

Thanks For Posting This Item!
I was on the fence about adding the scoop or trying to make the car look more like CSX-3178.
The decision is it will be smooth thanks to your post so it will like Shelby's car which sold recently.
No, it won't have an automatic transmission like that car.

Don't let this once in a thousand incident sway your decision one way or another about whether to use a scoop or to have underhood bling. Just be aware that if you see a strong concentrated reflection it might be prudent to close the hood or point the car in a different direction or cover up the reflective item until the sun moves.

Now I know what to do with all those little "hair net" covers that came on my FFR wheels.

My solution: Double down on the bling with a clear polycarbonate air filter lid.

Mike-
Don't take this the wrong way, but it reminds me a bit of the old Jiffy Pop deals we used as kids. HA.
I love your car, I just had to comment on the fun we are having with solving sun burn on our cars!
