Hi all.
Shannon R. in San Antonio, TX. Just placed an order for an MK4. Hopefully I will get the kit in Sept just as the brutal Texas summer is ending. Working in the garage will be easier in the winter.
I don't have all the details worked out but this is what I have so far
Complete Kit
Powder coated chasis
3 link suspension
Wilwood brakes
standard vinyl seats
wipers, sun visor, wind wings, and a few other accessories
I think I am going to get a 363 from Mike Forte and pair it with a TKO 600
I am excited, nervous, anxious, and quite honestly a little scared. I have been on this site for a while and am a little intimidated by the skill set I see on here routinely. I will soak up what I can and hopefully give back a little.
When I get to 20 posts I will update my profile with some more info. When the kit comes I will also try to start a build thread. Wish me luck.

Congratulations Shannon. I've just gotten my MKIV drivable. If you are up to a short road trip you'd be welcome to come check it out. I'm about 80 miles north of you in Spicewood.

I am getting excited. My MK4 was suppose to be ready at FFR yesterday (Sept 10th). I hope Stewart Transport calls me this week and confirms I will be getting my Christmas present in September.
Patience is not my greatest virtue. COME ON STEWART

Have fun with the build. Like you I was a little scared. The forum has been a great resource for help. I'm learning a ton and every time I am at a stumbling point someone here can clear things up for me. Don't be afraid to ask for help. Those last couple days waiting for Stewart are the hardest! Haha. Good luck

$1500.
Pricey but Stewart Transport seems to have a lot of experience. Plus, I didn't want to make the drive and assume all the transportation risk.
Have you ordered one yet? Good luck and hope this helps.

Congrats Shannon. I'm ordering my 33 around Christmas. I also live in SA and would love to chat..

Congrats on the purchase. You'll have fun building the car. I took 6 years building mine and it has been on the road for 2 years now; total blast. I'm beginning to get the itch to do another!
We're just outside of Houston but will be driving to San Antonio often as my daughter has just started college there...

Right choice. Interesting that it was just about the same price for delivery to Houston of my Mk3.1 kit 8 years ago. I guess transportation hasn't gone up at all the last few years.

RoadRacer,
I sent you a PM.
ram_g,
If it takes me 6 years to build, my wife will kill me.:)
RickP,
I plan on starting a build thread in the appropriate forum. I will post pics there. Stewart Transport is suppose to pick up my kit this week. They haven't called yet to confirm a delivery. It is all I can do to keep from calling the Stewart Transport office and harass them on a daily basis. I am trying to practicing patience. "Serenity Now" (hopefully someone gets that reference).

Well, there was a guy who just posted in the other forum, from San Antonio as well as it happens, who has been at it for 8 years and just now has the car street legal (not yet painted). It is true that the majority of the builds don't take this long, but it's all a function of how much time you can set aside to work on it. Life happens, as they say.
Your response does raise a potentially troubling issue - do you need (by wifely mandate) to be done by a certain amount of time? These cars are very enjoyable to build but do take longer than FFR allows in their marketing materials. What are you assuming in your plans?

Congratulations & It Won't Take You 8 Years!

Congratulations Shannon! Just curious, how much HP will the 363 put out? Are you planning for your roadster to be a weekend cruiser, a road & track ride, or a daily driver?
Also, my wife's hesitation isn't the years to build. It's the amount of cussing she'd hear from the garage that she's worried about!

ram_g,
LOL. Wifely mandates aren't that strict. No hard deadlines. It just depends on how much grief I can take while consuming precious garage space. All kidding aside, I am planning on about 500 hrs. If I can put in 10 hours a week I could finish in a year. I will stay positive and stick to my story. Yes, one year.
740iLn,
I have changed directions on the engine. I will update my plans when I start my build thread. I am going with a 347 from Levy Racing. According to Gordon I should expect something north of 400 hp and 400 ft-lb of torque. On the cussing, I will just play some music so she can't hear me.
I called Stewart Transport today. They were scheduled to pick up this week and told me they are planning on Friday (Monday at the latest). I will keep up the faith.
I am still disappointed that no one got the "Serenity Now" reference. :o

Congrats on your build. Quick tip, call FFR and have them send you a pic of your car before its shipped. Nice to look back on when you get done. By the way, don't worry about your skill set. You'll be fine. From experience I can tell you your skills will improve dramatically during your build. Just be patient, take your time and enjoy the experience. Good luck and don't forget there's a lot of help here in the forums. Again I speak from experience. Gotten a lot of help from folks here most notably Edwardb. Check out his builds for help. He covers everything thoroughly.

Dude, you live in Texas, where garages are meant to be workshops and man caves...your daily drivers will do just fine parked outside on the driveway.
You'll be fine with your timing. For years during my build I was lucky if I put in an hour or two per week. Work, kids activities, and all that. But that was fine, I enjoyed all of it. Now I get to enjoy driving it while continuing to tinker and upgrade. These things are never completely done!

lol, I told my wife the 300 hours, 4-5 months story. Oops.
Although, I must admit it will purely in shakedown mode at that point, far from paint, etc. I like to drive my cars with duct tape for first year before I make it pretty.

Well, I finally got the call. The driver from Stewart Transport says he is headed this way and has a kit with my name on it. Just excited and wanting to tell some one. When it shows up I will start a build thread.
I feel like I did when I was 10 and waiting on Christmas.
