living in northern Florida, we have actual rain fall. My plan is to have a hard top / windows, and I've seen pictures of window installs with weather stripping on the forum. How weather proof is the 33? If it's raining pretty hard, will some water sneak in or does the weather stripping do a good job with this? I understand I'm going to be the one installing the weather stripping, but for the guys that have driven through heavy rain, did the 33 fair well? Thanks for your time.

It would be as weatherproof as you make it. The hardtop would be the best bet, the side windows would be your challenge, but it's the underside that would be a bigger challenge. Pay attention to every single seam and crevice, especially between the body and chassis.myou will have to use lots of sealants. Remember that making it waterproof means using heavy material. If you plan to drive in heavy rain, I salute you! That's awesome!

I built a 33 and live in Alachua, FL. With the hardtop and P/W if you seal it up good it is fairly waterproof. I got caught in a couple good rain showers with no problems at all. Of course it is up to the builder to do a good job from the beginning.

I live in Gainesville and am almost finished with my 33 with roadster top and side curtains. I did not expect it to be completely weatherproof. Although I have not driven my car in pouring rain, I did tow it 320 miles to South Florida in pouring monsoons. I expected to have to drill holes in the floor to let the water out when I got there! Surprisingly, the ONLY water that came in was about a tablespoon's worth that came in between the windshield corner and the side curtain on the driver side. I am quite pleased with the Rod Tops roadster top/side curtain kit!

You could always have the underside sprayed with a Line-X or Rhino-liner type material.

If you are going to spray the underside, consider UPOL Raptor Bed Liner.
It comes in black, but other colors too, but the best part is that it is a two part catalyzed product so it will hold up better than Rhino-Liner.
It's a DYI spray kit and if I can do it, anybody can!
