Just curious if anyone has used seat heaters with the kirkey seats?
The seat cover has the seat padding attached to it. I see no way to separate the padding from the seat cover. The padding is 1-2" thick at various areas. It looks like my option would be to install the heater right onto the seat pan and then the padding on top of that and then the seat cover. Do you think the heaters would be effective separated from the seat cover by a few inches of foam padding? Any other input or thoughts on this are appreciated.

Feedback from another forum member indicates these don't get that hot to begin with so I am thinking if there is a couple inches of padding in-between I would not even be able to feel them.

I peeled the foam away from the Kirkey fabric cover, inserted the heater pads, and then glued the foam back in place.

I too pulled the foam away from the seat cover. It takes some patience but can be done. A little bit of heat helped as well.

Do either of you have any pictures of this process? I've never seen what the actual heater unit looks like.

There are definitely pictures of the process on the 'other' forum. I know, because I followed them:

I also added a thin layer of insulation (sheet rubber) to the inside of the aluminum seat shell. If you don't insulate the heater from the aluminum shell, it will absorb all the heat and won't reflect much back. Others used felt insulation, I just used sheet rubber since we have some on hand here at my work.
