Looking for some feedback on what lubrication folks are using in T5 transmissions. I've had conflicting advice regarding the use of ATF (automatic transmission fluid) vs gear oil. My donor T5 has been in storage for about 12 years so i took off the covers to clean it and there was very little lubrication in it and i cant really tell what it is. I'm new to the forum so i apologize if this has been debated before.

No debate. Right out of the Tremec T5 Service Manual: "2-4. APPROVED LUBRICANT. T5 transmission models use Dexron II automatic transmission fluid. CAUTION Do not mix different brands or types of transmission lubricant. DO NOT USE GEAR OIL IN THE T5 TRANSMISSION SINCE THIS MAY DAMAGE THE BLOCKING RING MATERIAL." Their CAPS by the way. 3rds. Dexron 2 atf. Gear oil and you'll have the opportunity to redo it later when it has to come out cause it's toasted.
