Is your Factory Five SEMA worthy? Factory Five is looking for a GREAT looking, extremely well built Factory Five Car to go to 2016 SEMA Show with us. Post a photo of your Factory Five and briefly tell us about your build. Remember this is the show of all shows. Your car will be on the same show floor with the likes of Chip Foose, Ring Brothers, Roadster Shop…

Mk4 #7750 was completed and legal in March of 2015. It was just over a two year build in my garage here in Lake Orion, MI. It is a new non-donor build starting as a base kit. I did all the work myself except the candy red paint and short block. It is powered by a DART 347 stroker with all forged internals, AFR heads, Quick Fuel carb, Quicktime bell and TKO600 trans. The rear suspension is the Gordon Levy 5-link. All the panels are gloss black powder coated on all sides. Both the interior and trunk are carpeted. It has electrically boosted power steering and Wilwood brakes. It is a fabulous car to drive, now approaching 3,000 miles but still shows as brand new.

The Roadster won Best in Show at the 2015 Factory Five open house. Won it's class (Handbuilt Sports) at the 2015 Detroit Autorama, and multiple other awards. It would be an honor to represent Factory Five at SEMA. Do I get to go with it? :o

This was my second Factory Five Roadster build. I am currently working on 20th Anniversary Roadster #003.

This is 99% done. It's my brother's 15th anniversary car, located in So-Cal. Would this be in the FFR booth or somewhere else?

I built 7074 over the course of five years with the purpose of turning out a very period-correct car with so many touches that pay homage to the original cars that it would be hard to tell the difference between mine and one that came from Thames Ditton. FFR provided the raw materials and inspiration, while I added the creativity and eye for detail. Although a Mk3.1 version, my car shows what is possible with a FFR kit. Authentic details abound, including rivets surrounding the cowl, safety wire for the knock-offs, an OEM small-block engine bay, a cockpit replete with leather dash, Smiths gauges, and original knobs and switches, and even an original Teclamit grease gun in the trunk.

My car is not a professional build - it was a labor of love and I did just about everything myself, except for sewing the custom leather covers for the Kirkey seats and spraying the clearcoat. It's a true representation of what a hobbyist and enthusiast can do on their own, with the help of the forum. It embodies a gentleman's racer from days gone by - one that looks as though it just rolled through the paddock at Road America during the '65 June Sprints.

I'd be honored for it to share a place at SEMA with the FFR team.

My vote's for Gumball at the moment, though the others are fantastic too!
Hopefully my Coupe will be as nice as these cars for next year's SEMA show. I'd love just to go, let alone be part of it!
Nice cars guys!

What a great opportunity! It would be very cool to be selected to have your ride at SEMA representing all of us!

I can't wait to see who FFR selects. Good luck to each of the entries!

Greg, your problem is not finding a car, it's narrowing it down.

Greg Hoy
07-20-2016, 08:38 AM
To answer a few of the questions I have been seeing here and on Facebook. It is indeed going to be a challenge to narrow it down, it will be a few of us selecting the car. A lot of great builders and great people in the Factory Five Community. The car will be in our booth. If your car is not finished, don't rush your build to try and get it completed in time to be in the hunt, enjoy your build and stay on your schedule. Keep posting your cars, open to all Factory Five models.

Thanks,
Greg Hoy

Let me know if you want mine. I can have it done pre-sema this year and dropped off at FFR before transporter leaves. I'll just need to know by early Aug if you need it or not so I can move up the schedule. I've built several on timelines before and I'm no stranger to the Sema thrash.

'15 IRS, '15 Coyote, 15" wheels, T56 Mag, and it should be exactly like what is shown below, down to the tredware letters on Avon tires.

Poor ol'Mark I was parked for about 10 months while I was traveling BUT she's out of the garage now - new plugs, and a quick trip from west Texas to the northeast. Here in the northeast, at first I just a 5 mile commute from my apartment to the office. Now, from our new house, I have about a 50 mile commute each way daily, so the miles are rolling up once more! At least till the snow fly's! Looking forward to trying it out at the Pittsburgh International Raceway complex soon!

542,004 miles now

Been thinking that since I built it in 1997 it might be time this winter, (seems they have winters here in the northeast), to lift the body off and do some work on her! While living below the Mason-Dixon line, winter was just a word, not a season! This may finally give me a time to make use of a number of parts I have collected.
