...who put shrubby into a headlock and got three punches in before putting him on the ground. Talk about grandpa taking the kid to the woodshed!! I think ol' Richard had just had enough.

As soon as I heard headlock I thought of Nolan Ryan grabbing a batter who'd charged his pitcher's mound.

Kyle is having a bit a of a 'year' ain't he. He got clocked at 128 mph past the end of my street a couple of weeks ago http://www.thatsracin.com/2011/05/24/63822/busch-gets-speeding-ticket-129.html By the way 128 mph down Perth Road is awfully impressive.

That's pretty funny, tells a lot about old school vs. kids. Lol...

Isnt Kyle on probation???

Yes, Kyle is on probation but NASCAR has already said he's not the culprit in this one. Childress's fine and/or suspension (and almost certainly probation) will be announced later today. Kyle didn't really do anything. Richard walked up, put him in a headlock, and punched his lights out. WOW.

NASCAR just announced a $150,000 fine for Richard. Yeouch, that hurts no matter how much you're worth!! He said all the right PR things in a press release, but I'll bet in the privacy of the shop he's getting some kudos and backslaps for putting the kid down like that.

Don't get me wrong, I don't condone the punching of course, and I believe that Kyle is one of the most purely talented drivers in NASCAR today. The kid is absolutely fantastic. But time after time, week in and week out, he manages to completely piss someone off. More often than not recently, for the last couple of years actually, he seems to have really targeted the RCR guys. I can just imagine the look on Richard's face (and the steam coming out of his ears) as he strode towards Busch's hauler.

Richard took a one-off, one-time-only stand. He did this on behalf of a lot of people. He knew full well before he did it that it was going to cost him a bundle. Shrubby is lucky he remained conscious.

I hope NASCAR suspends Busch for ramming the kid on the cool down lap, since he is on probation already for driving rough.

I have to say something Kyle did a few years back really impressed me.

We had pit passes for Dover and were down in the infield during the drivers meeting, rainy day, race got rained out. Anyhow, from the tent that the meeting was in, one side led directly back towards the pits where the fans and media were, the other side we didn't have access to, but was a short cut back to the trailers.

At that time Kyle was in his usual storm of controversy and a hot discussion, but after the drivers meeting he was the only driver to come out to the fan area, give an interview or two, and sign autographs. Every other driver snuck out the back, and at that time Kyle had the most reason to sneak out the back.

IMHO it showed a lot of character.
