Needed something other than wiring to make the build fun. Laid up the dash for inspiration to stop mocking up and install things permanently. :D

Wile the red looks very good, how well will it work from a human factors standpoint? Will it make reading the gauges easier or harder while driving down the road? Do the gauges have red lights in them that goes with the red bezels? Any chance that the gauge needles will also glow red?

I may be wrong, but I'm thinking the only human factor consideration here is clearly displaying "in your face" to the observer. I'm sure the purists will hate it, but it works for me.

Love the red bezels, I also deviated from the historical route. Found a carbon fiber pod for my O2 exhaust guages.

Gauge number and needles are white on black and needles and highlights do glow red. Don't think there will be a problem, both BMWs I had were set up the same and I have pretty good night vision. I like my gauge lights set low on my DDs.

Not quite, "in your face", but yep, from the beginning this build wasn't going to be traditional. While I appreciate those that go for the traditional route, too many things, starting with the high back Kirkey's were going to drag me away from that route. So, jumping in the non-traditional route with both feet!

I love it. I'm also planning a non-traditional roadster and have something like this "in the list". Nice work.

Where did you get the material from? I think it looks great. I have seen a carbon fiber mask that you spray and clear coat, can't recall but it's an over the counter type deal. Looks good!

I like the switches. Where did you source them?

It's from DragonPlate. Got the 48x24" - doesn't cover the whole dash, basically to where the curve starts. Pricey going larger. Still finishing up, have enough to cover the ends, but might paint blank, see how it goes if I can get a good match. Went matte finish and with the adhesive backing (3M). Prepped the aluminum per WaynesWorld's advice with alumiprep. Locked down solid so far with 100 degrees in the garage today.

Cobra Valley's Custom Toggle Switch covers, http://performanceunlimited.com/cobravalley_electrical/togglecover.html. Black on red lettering, not a good choice. Looking to update to a lighter color - another thing on the list.
