Hi Michael,

Haven't checked that one as I don't have a project for it at this time. To add to the list, check out Ultra Hush Mat. Also soled by Summit on the same page. It cuts, installs, and feels just like Dynamat but at a lower price point. I remember the performance numbers were very similar to Dynamat. I've installed both and can't tell the difference. There are so many now, it is worth the research to get what is best for you. You can even hybridize and use some that is more effective for heat for instance near the hot spots and then go with some other stuff that has better noise damping properties. Personally, I used three dissimilar materials on my MKIII to mitigate the sound travel even more. It seems to work.

Good luck,

WEK.

There is another product call Lizard Skin that is a latex base liquid and sprays on. It comes in two types, a heat insulator and a sound deadener. Both Edward and I as well as a lot of other builders have used it with good results. It requires some time consuming masking before spraying but eliminates the tedious job of cutting shapes from a roll of stick-on material.

Here's a write-up I did about Lizard Skin from the other forum several years ago. Recently completed the same process on another build.

It's gonna be loud, no matter what you do.... just the nature of these cars. However, application of a damping product does help to make the car sound and feel more substantial and, therefore, lend an sense of quality when you shut doors or when rocks hit the wheelwells, splash guards, and floor pans. You can see a similar application on the back of a quality stainless steel sink - just something to attenuate the "tin can" sound of the bare metal.

I used Dynamat - it was on-sale at one of the mega-parts houses back when I was building, so I went with it rather than some of the normally cheaper alternatives. Doesn't have to cover the panels completely, either, in order to do its job.

Hey WEK,

thank you for the suggestion, after reviewing my options (and after seeing Mr. Edward post regarding the lizard skin) i decided to give it a shot to that, i feel it will cover different little
"issues" like gaps, or heat in an fairly way here.
wish me luck!

Mike
