Annual Factory Five Gathering Scheduled for Saturday, June 11
http://www.factoryfive.com/whatsnew/showevent/openhouse/2009/DSC_0087.jpg
Join us for our 14th Factory Five Racing Summer Open House to be held on Saturday, June 11th from 9 am to 1 pm at our headquarters in Wareham, MA. The format will be the same as previous years with car show awards, food and refreshments, and our famous Scratch & Dent Parts Sale...BUT...this year we have some new surprises!
roject 818 Design Winners to be Announced
At this year's Open House, we will announce the winners of the Grassroots Motorsports-Factory Five Design Competition. We will have the winning submissions on display along with the 818 prototype chassis.
Huge/Expanded Parts Sale
One of the most popular Open House features is our annual Scratch and Dent Discount Parts Sale. This year, we have a HUGE number of discounted parts, both new and used. The team here decided that we needed to kick it up a notch, so if you're looking for a deal on a variety of Factory Five parts and options, you will find a mind-blowing assortment of parts at great Open House prices. Parts corral opens at 9 A.M. sharp.
Vendor Alley
We've had vendors attend the Open House in year's past, but this year, we have a larger contingent of Factory Five vendors and aftermarket support. Mark and his crew from Breeze Automotive will be here, the guys from Tasca Ford will be on hand with their Hot Rod and "drop-in" engine packages, and other vendors like Grassroots Motorsports, Ford Racing, Whitby Automotive, and Mendeola Transmissions will be here. Lastly, Factory Five's Sally will be offering some cool new shirt designs at great prices.
Factory Five Car Show and Awards
This year we expect an ever growing number of Factory Five cars...perhaps as many as 150-200 cars if the weather is good. We've invested in some very nice car show awards made by Ed at Victory Valley Trophy (west coast customers at the HB Cruise-In saw these nice trophies). Categories for the car show include the following:
Best in Show Coupe
Best in Show Roadster
Best in Show Challenge
Best in Show GTM
Best in Show ’33
Best in Show Under Constuction
Best Chrome
Most Innovative Improvement
Best Paint
Best Engine
Best Interior
Best in Show all Classes
Long Distance Award
Schedule of Events:
9:00 am - Open House Begins/Car Show Registration
9:00 am - Parts Sale Opens
10:00 am - 818 Chassis Unveil and Design Winners
10:00 am - Food/Refreshments Available
10:00 am - Car Show Judging Begins
11:00 am - Factory Tour
12:00 pm - Car Show Awards Presentation
12:15 pm - Factory Five Legacy/Robert Fedderson Memorial Award Presentation
1:00 pm - Open House ends
There will be food, refreshments, prizes and of course tons of Factory Five cars for everyone to enjoy. This year, we have some cool, all-new t-shirt designs along with a fun mix of posters, hats, and other FFR swag. The event is open to the public and we hope to see you here.

Now that you've let the cat out of the bag Dave, why am I showing up at all? ;)
Looking forward to congratulating you on a job well done and some amazing vision. Also looking forward to lots and lots of 818R info (finally!).
See ya then!

I'll be there. It will be great to finally see the operations and the talent behind it. Just got a sneak peek of it on Speedmakers. Nice segment! Looking forward to it.

I'll be there in spirit, even if physically in DC with the family on vacation. I'll have the laptop and smartphone for pics.

I will not be venturing into the northeast anytime soon, but I'm anxious to see and hear the cat.

I'm still thinking about it. But 12 hrs each way is a long drive in a fixed back racing seat. Plus, my wife already gave me "the look" when I told her what I might be doing next weekend.
I think I could handle the 12 hrs drive, but when it comes to "the look"....that's too much.
I doubt I'm going to make it. I'll be glued to my computer though!

I'm planning to trailer my unfinished MKII up there just for fun. I've been there several times over the years, dating back to 2001 I think, but this will be the first time that my baby will be back where she was born, that will be fun. Always worth the drive, it is 5 hours or so for me each way. Makes for a very long day but it is doable.
BUT...I got an email from my friend who's loaning me the trailer just a few minutes ago, and he may not be able to get it out of his yard of all things!! He's having major renovations done on the house and he thinks the construction has locked it in. We're going to meet tomorrow to see if we can figure out how to free it up.
I'll check in again later this week. But if I make it, I'll be the guy in grey gelcoat with the greenish Rage in the sanded seams. And a VERY healthy sound coming from the sidepipes -- a very warmed up 351W that I built myself with a bit of help and guidance from my son, who was 9 years old the year we built the motor (2009).
Please don't ask why this is taking me so long. I treasure my hours in the garage working on it, but there are a whole lot of things (family, work, doing all my own home maintenance, business travel, blah blah blah) that keep stretching it out. 2011 might still be the magic year...

I plan on being there....

Well, if Dave is going then so am I. This will be my first time back there since I picked up my kit in '96, and I'm going with the same person that came with me then.

I plan to be there, with my wife and possibly a friend who is really intrigued by the idea of a kit car and also really loves the Daytona Coupe.

I'm pleased to say we've resolved my friend's trailer access issue and I'll be there. I'll have to back the trailer down a driveway that is about 200' or so and includes a 90° turn through trees and bushes, but I've been backing trailers up accurately since I was a 12 year old kid working on my uncle's farm so no issues there.
Hey Olli, if you want a ride up there just let me know...

Please excuse me for my ignorance if it has been mentioned already, but will the open house be webcast live through the internet? Unfortunately I had all intentions of making it up, but there are some life changes that have taken place that require me to be in town this weekend. I however really want to be a part of the open house still, and would certainly like to watch the announcements of the 818 live.

AJ, its awesome that your bringing the car up under construction, I think I've given up hope of making it this year. If anything changes with the trailer, just give me a shout, the SE will be available.
Olli, you taking any of the projects up this year????
Cracked, you should come out to one of the monthly breakfasts just down in Chester.

Thanks Scott, appreciated.
Cracked, I sent you a PM on Sunday, don't know if you saw it. Jury is still out on whether there's room in the truck, nobody seems able to make up their minds. How late is too late to let you know?
AJ
PS -- Either way, Scott is right, do join the gang for one of the breakfasts, including this coming Sunday at the Chester Diner, 9:00 a.m.

I spoke to Mad Dog (our resident web-genius) and he is going to try and do a webcast from the event. More details as we get them sorted out this week. I cant wait for the event!

Dave, if Maddog needs anything, let me know.
I wish I could be there. It turns out I'm not leaving town this weekend, but for reasons I've kept to myself I've had to keep my weekends free in case I get a call that requires travel. Things are OK in that department so I could have made the event. Next year, for sure...
A web cast would be appreciated, especially the awards ceremony!
It's going to be an epic event, I can feel it. Have fun everybody!

Anyone have recommendations for cheap places to crash Friday night? Looks like stuff near Wareham is >$100/night, trying to spend less and still have a clean bed for the night. Willing to be up to 30 minutes away from the show...

I drove in my driveway last night late and my daughter was in the yard with a stray cat that she had found and was begging to keep. I thought, shoot, the cat really is out of the bag! Seriously, Mad dog and I are putting together a web-video of the design award winners for guys who are not here. The video includes some good quality chasis shots. Right now the web-cast is not for sure, but we're working hard at it along with a million details.
Haven't missed one yet and don't plan to miss this year's. Last build left the stable in February, so it's time for some inspiration. Wife's about ready to kill me though - I keep making google eyes at her turbocharged Forrester!
