A little background. About a month ago I called Mike and inquired about some of the parts he fabricates, he told me he had all that I was looking for except for the steering shaft trim ring so I proceeded to travel to his shop and he had everything waiting boxed up for me when I arrived. Mike said he would machine some steering shaft trim rings and if I was going to the Factory Five open house he would have one with him for me, which he did.

While at his shop I had explained that my build was a real long process from the time I picked it up at the factory to now because of numerous things that prevented me from working on it and that I was close to getting ready to send it to paint but there were just about 7 or 8 things that were not done that were preventing moving to the paint stage. Mike said he would be happy to make a house call and see what we could do to get the car done, so about a week ago I called him and made an appointment for a house call today.

Let me tell you, Mike pulled in exactly when he said he would be there, and in six hours with my help Mike had completed everything that I had hoped to accomplish and I am ready to send it off to paint. What he did in 6 hours I would have taken more than the rest of this week to get done.

Do yourself a favor, he knows what he is doing and has already figured out the best way to complete many of the tasks required to build these cars, if you want to make some serious progress on your build, call Mike Everson and hire him to make a house call.

Yeah I would agree with this and all I have done is buy parts from him. He knows his stuff and is a great guy to deal with.

In the body of your post I get it that this is a "satisfied customer" post but the first sentence should be worded differently. It should be "Hire Mike Everson Unless you want to work on your car forever and never get finished." Or "Don't hire Mike Everson Unless you want him to work on your car and get it finished quick".

:)

I agree. The post needs to be fixed. Mike is a great guy.

Me too. I thought it was going to be some big flame job, and almost didn't want to open it. Good thing I did, because it was nothing like I thought it was going to be.

Please change the title to reflect the positive nature of the post; some folks just look at the titles and move on with a negative reflex towards Mike which is not your intention. If the title is not changed, it is a disservice to Mike.

Reading just the title I was ready to jump to Mike's defense. Glad I didn't need to but yeah, that one statement at face value is kind of misleading.

Cheers,
Jeff

My last two roadster builds followed the same path. I would pick up the kit at Factory Five and drive straight to Mike's house (about 15 minutes). While the body was on the frame, we fitted the doors, trunk, hood and all the hinges. That takes about 5 or 6 hours at Mike's, but 5 or 6 weeks at my house. I then went along for the next 12-18 months and got everything done including paint. Mike would then make a house call and we'd mount the body and all the components. This is usually another 4 or 5 hours with Mike or a month or so without him.

I'd recommend him to anyone who wants a whole car or help with a few problems, or anything in between. The last house call that Mike made was a little harder for him. I'm usually a pretty good helper but this time I had just had a chemotherapy session so I pooped out after about 2 hours. I'm not the iron man I thought I was so I spent most of the time handing him tools.
