Getting close to receiving my engine, and wanted to run a question by everyone. I have the FFR remote oil filter kit, but over the years have heard pros and cons discussed about the quality of the unit. Before I make a mistake that I'll regret, I wanted to find out what peoples experiences were with them, and/or if you can make a recommendation of a higher quality kit.
Thanks in advance for your responses.

If using a 302/351W and 4x4 headers you don't even need it. Ford Racing also sells a 90* adapter (Call Mike Forte he will know what it is) so that you wouldn't need the remote filter. No hoses, fewer fittings less chance of leaks.

EZ$ don't dismiss Olli's suggestion of the 90 degree adapter. I've used remote oil filters on both my builds but when I do the 3rd it will make use of the adapter. NO hoses. No fittings that leak.

Good advice IMHO.

Took my FFR stuff off and went with the 90 degree adapter.

Will the 90* adapter work with the 4-1-4 setup? I have frpp stainless shorties on my 302

Should have mentioned, I'm building a 289 FIA, so I'll be using shorty headers and John pipes into the FIA side pipes, so I can't use the 90 degree adapter. I know I'll need to use the remote mount, just wanting to go with the one that's the best.

I have used this Canton part in the past. Shop around for pricing...

I think that if the remote mount fits, the 90* adapter will fit. The remotes will eventually cause problems. Used one once, never again.

Several guys sell a quality adapter. I got mine from Gordon. I would not put the FFR unit on anything as the quality is below what I'm willing to put on my car.

Thanks guys. I will check with Gordon to see if my application will accept a 90 degree adapter. I'd much rather go that way. What you mentioned Mike is what I've been concerned about. I will look at the Canton units if I absolutely have to go that way.

The Canton adapters posted by Olli are a quality piece. I have the pancake adapter on my car. Use good hoses and it won't give you any problem ( I used Jegs pushlock hose and AN fittings). The only catch is if you ever need to remove the pancake adapter the block side o-ring will likely be deformed and need replaced. The o-ring kit is cheap though so I keep one around just in case.
