As the title says, I just ordered my kit. My donor car came in last week, an 06 WRX with 105K hit on drivers side. I'm having the engine and tranny refreshed just to be on the safe side. I'm sure I will be on the forum much more with lots of questions in the near future. If there are any owners in New England near southern Vermont, who can give me advice, let me know.:)

Welcome! You have a lot of fun (and a little frustration) ahead of you! ;)
I am building an 818S (to become an 818C) in Andover, MA. When you have questions, fire away.

Thanks all. Kind of exited and scared all at the same time. Going to be a while till I get the kit, but when I do I'll be back with questions.

It can be very exciting and scary. I bought my 818s second hand so it's slightly more difficult trying to find parts missing or where bolts go but can't wait to get it going. I'm in tyngsboro ma and should be further along to help when you have questions.

I would suggest getting a good bench grinder and air riveter if you don't already have them. I am a fan of the Dewalt DW756 and Norther Tool combo hydraulic pneumatic myself. The 756 will grind down a grade 8 bolt without blinking. And get extra rivets and a bunch of 1/8" drill bits to have on hand.

I've got a pretty well equipped garage as I've owned several vintage sports cars. Actually just sold my 74 Lotus Europa to finance and make room for the 818. I am looking for a power riveter. Not sure if I want to go cheapo with Harbor Freight (use it for the one project , then throw away) or Northern Tools, or maybe this?

What have others used successfully?

wow - that is SHARP. Going to add that to my list of stuff to order from Eastwood !
Also a great package for someone getting into a project like this since it comes with 20 clecos and 450 rivets.

Yeah, it looked good to me and the price seemed reasonable for what you get. Plus I have faith in Eastwood that it's not a piece of junk.

Be aware that tool from Eastwood is a solid rivet tool and doesn't do blind rivets that are used to rivet the aluminum panels to the frame. It's a great tool to make door panels, seats ect that you can reach the backside of area being riveted.

The Klutch air over hydraulic riveter they sell at Northern Tool works great. Picked it up for $79.
