You know, I hadn't thought of that! Great idea!

Now about that pic guard idea. I think I'll try it on this bad boy:

Sweet. Yeah, the Voyager would be a better one to start on. Just the one switch to mount. You'll have to break this out into its own off topic thread. I can't wait to see it.

So now that new ride is off to paint for a little while I'm going to take jceckard's challenge and make pick guards for both of these guitars, just for the fun of it. I'll start that project today by pulling the existing ones off and prepping some new metal.

It was jc's idea to take my engine turning hobby to a new level and make a pick guard for my guitar(s), and he had another good idea to break it out into it's own thread, thanks!

Let's see how they turn out, shall we?

:)

PS That's a Gibson Explorer BTW...

Oops. My bad. I've been more of a Fender guy. Gibson makes some beautiful pieces, but they were always too heavy (and expensive) for me. That being said, I do have a Heritage 575, which was born from the same heritage (pun not intended).

I'm sure the trick will be to determine how to orient the pickguard before turning - which direction would look best for the "rows". I'm sure it will look great. I'll be watching.
