The driver that dropped my car off told me about 450 lbs, but other than his word, I never saw anything definitive

Good Question!
I suspect it's even lighter than that because my pal and I were able to easily handle it when we had to move the engine mounts around for the SBC and ZF-6 Speed.
Mr. Universe neither of us are so my guess is it is around 350 since we're old farts in our Mid-50's.
Again, Good Question!

If the FF cobras total Wt. is 2,200 lbs.How can the frame only weigh 375 Lbs ?
Eng. wt - 302 aprox. 450 lbs...427-aprox. 650 lbs.
Fiber glass body total -125 lbs.
So far total 1,150 lbs.
Suspension wt. ? trans wt. ? rear end ? Tires/brakes/wheels wt..? that's about all of the heavy stuff that's left.

All the small stuff adds up. I just received my "dieted harness" and that box was a tad bit heavy and thats just wire.......

1. Without weighing the car, the only way to determine/estimate the weight would to do do a complete materials take off.
2. When doing such an exercise you literally need to do a detailed accounting of every component and the weights.
3. It will surprise you as to how quickly "All The Small Stuff Adds Up" especially the little things that weighs the least.
4. The un-sprung weight alone of my differential, including wheels tires and brakes, soaks up nearly 300 pounds.
How do I know this: prior to becoming a Banker I went to school to become a Naval Architect. A weak economy presented a different career path, but that's another story.
When calculating stability of any vessel you must figure out how much every component weighs, then determine the center of gravity and actual displacement. When doing a quick assessment of a Factory Five MK-4, I find that I am well over 1,800 pounds, not including things like lights, switches, pedal assembly, master cylinders, etc.

As Jstanding said, "All The Small Stuff Adds Up."

All the small stuff adds up..
Indeed it does! The body with doors, hood & trunk comes in at 250. Windshield is about 35, brakes around 25 per corner, spindles another 35 or so, coilovers about 45, control arms 40, radiator with coolant 50, headers and sidepipes 75, driveshaft 15, seats 45, battery 60... and that's before we even get to the aluminum panels or mechanicals like the trans, clutch, flywheel, rearend, wheels & tires, wiring and electrical components, etc. :)

working on performance cars and planes in the past we always said. if you need to loose 500 lbs as an example you don't look for one place to shed it.... you look for 500 places to loose 1 lbs, or 250 places to loose 2. Given the number of parts, paint and fluids it sure adds up fast.

When I do final assembly on my ride I intend to document every pound. It will be fun to see how the numbers end up. Just how light can you make an IRS car with a full cage? We'll see.

The reason I asked for the weight was to determine how many guys I would need to load the frame onto my trailer for transport to the powder coater. I ended up with three - myself, and two fellow cobra owners. While the three of us muscled the car up, my wife winched it on.

I wonder how much more the frame will weigh when you get it back....
