I process of plumbing up my new motor and I am less than thrilled again with the stock 5.0 throttle cable.

I am using the stock 5.0 pedal out of a 90 Mustang plumbing up to Quick Fuel carburetor. Might anyone have some pictures of their install detailing this part? I am specifically interested in the attachment at the pedal end.

I used a Lokar cable. It is simple install. I do not have any detailed pics of the pedal area. But it basically installs like the FFR unit, IMO. Not sure about the stock Mustang pedal deal. I always use the kit pedal or Russ Thompson's pedal. Here are some pics. The cable does sorta a S shape from the foot box to my carbs.

I don't have any pictures, but the pedal attachment was pretty simple. I started with a nut and bolt that would fit though that hole at the top of the pedal. I drilled a hole down the center of the bolt, and threaded the cable through the hole.

For what it's worth, I used a lokar cable on my Dart for 4 years with no readjustments or any issues. Good product!

I drove a couple Roadsters with the stock Mustang Accelerator Pedal before i built mine and concluded that the Russ Thompson pedal was much better. (In fact, both of the FFR's I drove, now have Russ Thompson pedals). Also, I'm running the GT40 Intake with the linkage on the passenger side, so I modified the setup to run a "U" shaped cable around the front, instead of an "S" bend to connect in the rear. My cable linkage is very smooth.

I used the modified Mustang pedal and Lokar cable. I didn't have the pedal stop set correctly with the original FFR cable and broke the cable standing on the gas too hard. The Lokar cable is much better quality but the ball on the pedal end is smaller and will pull through the FFR supplied plastic grommet. I took a countersink (flat head) machine screw and drilled a hole down the center for the cable. I made a pocket in the head of the screw with a 1/4 bit for the ball to sit in and cut the screw at about 3/8 inch long. The screw piece now fits into the FFR grommet and the cable goes through that. Here are a couple of pictures. Please excuse the mess. We have had nice weather and I have been driving the car a lot.
