Is anyone using a HEI distributor? I like the simplicity of it. I'm concerned the air cleaner will hit

I have used them but on a Small block, it will hit the normal Cobra style air cleaner. I had to modify the air cleaner on my coupe. Check out my build thread to see what I did. I am currently using this nice billet Distributer unit from Summit on my MK4.

I'll be running a Performance Distributor HEI (aka: Davis Unified Ignition) or an MSD Pro-Billet HEI.
At this point I'm not sure which one I'll get; however, it will be an HEI from one of these companies.

Performance Distributor (aka: Davis Unified Ignition) will custom curve the unit based on your engine specs.
They do have a couple of different units that fit your FE Monster so how cool is that!
You'll need to let them know if you will be running a Roller or Flat Tappet Cam so that they can install the correct gear.
I have a DUI unit on our 302 in the Roadster. Added the rev-limiter a year after I started driving the car. Haven't had any trouble with it and I like the ability to walk into any auto-parts store and get replacement parts if needed.
