To all my friends out there painting and wrapping their cars.
There are 2 places that take a lot of abuse.
Here is a picture of my side scoop after 2 track days and about 50 autocross runs.

The second place is under the door. We seem to collect a lot of pebbles there.
For a while we ran with out front wheel wells. The problem was really bad.
With wheels wells the problem is still there just not as bad.
Our side sails are scratched by these rock.

Good info, thanks Bob! How much of the side scratches do you think are from cones?

About 1/2 of the scuffs were from cones. The rest was from hot rubber particles.
The stuff by the vent all came off using Mothers R3. The door sills were scratches that will need gelcoat or sanding to repair.

I'm worried for the guys that paint before road testing.

No surprised about the side scoop area, that was quite predictable as many other cars with similar body have good chances to have that problem (old Porsches have protection there).

However I am surprised about the side sail to door area. How can it collect pebbles if the wheel wells are on? I thought these were sealing totally behind the wheel.

I don't have the side sail scuffs from the doors on my car. I can definitely see the rear fender area getting some rock chips over time.

My front splitter and side skirts have taken a beating. I've noticed that a few of the joints where the 'bumpers' attach to the fenders and 1/4s have become a bit saggy and twisted. I'm thinking larger washers to spread the load better.

The rear vent areas are also taking a beating. It's actually started to develop little pits and 'chips' in the 3M wrap there. Version 2 might be double thick to prevent that.
