Hey, I am new to this site and considering building a FFR 33 Hot Rod. I live in sunny central FL and have 4 kids (2 boys that are 15 and 12) and I am thinking I want to build this with the help of both boys.

My older son and I have already redone a 90 Vett Vert that we picked up 2 years ago in July and worked like madmen for about 8 months to complete. In that case we re-did the full interior, front and rear suspension, all weather stripping, brakes all the way around and changed out the motor to a 383 crate engine with a HP transmission upgrade as well. All of the fiberglass and pain was subbed out to a local custom painter I know.

I am hoping to get this project underway just after the first of the year when I am done with some chemo treatments for colon cancer. I can plan now, just don’t have the energy to get this project underway until treatments are done. My plan is to research here and at the FFR site and attend build school (potentially with both boys) between now and January as well as book my order in late October to hopefully have delivery by Jan. 1. So far the info I have found here looks awesome. I also have considered buying a custom chassis and fiberglass body and going my own rogue route but the FFR route looks to be more economical and have plenty of options such as the new IRS rear setup.

Here is to getting my journey started.

Kevin,

Welcome to the FFR family!!

I think you've made a wise decision to go with FFR. You simply can't get a better handling '33 anywhere. We're here to HELP so please don't be shy about asking anything about the build (or anything in general!)

Best wishes for a simple resolution to your cancer. Treatments SUCK but they do the job! Get well soon!

:)

Welcome! How great that you can do this project with your boys. I am currently building a 33 hot rod but my two sons are to old, too busy and too far away. This is a project that your sons will never forget and a great way to keep them out of trouble. I see you are in central FL I'm in Sebastian, if you would like to get together sometime, I'm very open to it. Waiting for the fall to order is a good idea, FFR puts on some great specials.

Good luck with the chemo treatments, I know they are not much fun. Murph

Thanks so much. I am in Palm Harbor so we can connect at some point. It is probably only about 22.5 hours to get to you. My boys both race BMX and are very active and we travel all over the state including West Palm and Orlando a good bit. As things get closer I will reach out and we can certainly meet up.

I echo what the others said. Great project with the kids. I did it with mine, both kids signed their names to the floorboards before I put the carpets down.

Good luck on the health front, But your new friends are pulling for you.

Thanks so much everyone. On the health front the doc says is is fully curable and I should be good to go by the second week of Jan. The process is slow and has caused me to cut back on the stuff that we normally do. I have surgery the 2nd week in September after the full second round of chemo is done and then will have 2 months of follow up chemo after that. I see the 33 HR class is the 2nd week of October so I hope I can work it where i can hit that one since they dont seem to offer it that often.
