My appointment is on Friday so hopefully I can get this little guy registered finally. It's been a while since I went but from what I knew then, Closed crank case and PCV valve are the only two components needed to register it as "body style." Hodgkins I know you just went. Any changes? I really don't want to go twice like I have the first times. Here's my fugly setup.

You can see the PCV valve here:

Move To Louisiana If You Don't Pass!
You will love the food, the fun and the freedom.
The cost of living will make you happy too.
Good Luck!

Where is your PCV valve?

And I hope those breathers aren't vented...

Erik, I think you're going to have a problem. They are going to require that your air filter assembly/assemblies are connected to one side of the engines valve cover (vapor recovery). Basically one side needs to pull in through the PCV and the other side needs to feed any vapor back in through the induction system. Mike Casey had that issue with his car during the B.A.R. portion of the registration. He ended up making an air filter assembly out of two cookie sheets being fed by one sides valve cover. You may want to get in touch with him, he may still have that.

No, the breathers aren't vented and the manifold draws vapor back into the crankcase via the vacuum. Thanks Frank. So the makeshift air cleaner went over the velocity tubes? That's exactly why I posted this. Do you have his number or email?

I'm wondering if it's enough to draw fresh air off of only one velocity stack or do I need some big goofy air scoop looking thing? I can get a Stack from hilborn and use an fitting to tap into it and take that direct to the other valve cover.

well, that's the thing, they don't even start it! It's only visual. Essentially they want to make sure that we don't vent any gasses into the atmosphere from the crank case which is fine and I think I accomplished that with my first effort however if they demand that one side needs to push bad air back out into the air cleaner well then I'll have to make something work. Personally I think I could do that by just piping one line into one of the velocity stacks which has those tiny air filters inside. We'll see.

I went to the BAR at the Golden West College my coupe did not pass because I had heater hoses for the crankcase vent system
and the referee said I need a hose for oil/ fuel
I tried to discuss with him how long the heater hoses would last for the crankcase system 30-40 years or longer? No luck
Don't make the same mistake if you go to the same location

I had a similar experience in that the same referee failed me for a vented breather and he mentioned when I add the hose that it HAD to compliant. I got it at NAPA.

New and improved? Seems like I've met the requirement but it is a government operation. I really don't want to build a scoop/air cleaner but I will if I have to.

Well he failed me because I did not have a grommet on my breather cap. For whatever reason Summit shipped me two different breathers one with a tube and grommet fitting and the other with some stupid, spring tong setup which I've never seen. Need to make another appointment! Hate this process. Mr Wonderful could have just as easy said just put that grommet on and let me go to the DMV.

Sorry to hear If you went to the Golden West Collage it doesn't surprises me the Guy normally deals with 90's $300 buckets when they failed smog you would think he could appreciate something like a Cobra/Daytona in like new condition but no words about it
Been there 3 times
This guy really sucks

He failed me too. If the next date is too far out you might try Chapman or Rio Hondo...

THIS TOO SHALL PASS!

You've Got To Be Kidding, But I Know You Aren't!

Over in Louisiana you make an appointment with the State Police and a State Trooper with the Specialized Vehicles Unit comes to you house to do the inspection on all kit cars and one off bikes.

Now for the really good stuff, we have drive through Daiquiris Stores and Go Cups at nearly every bar plus we are an Open Carry State and I don't mean water, beer or rye. Taxes are low by your standards and then there is the best fishing in the world, the best hunting too, plus Cruising The Coast is just next door in Mississippi. (1st Week of October) Add in Mardi Gras, French Quarter Fest, Jazz Fest, Essence Fest, Voo-Doo Fest, Christmas, New Years and What Can I Say, But Move, Move, Move!

Sorry Gents, but you live in a State that treats it's tax paying citizens like the orphans were treated in Dicken's "Oliver Twist!"

Please Sir, May I Have Some More?

We'll Treat You With Southern Hospitality Down Here & Take You Duck Hunting Too!

That is very true, especially so for my home state.

Head down the bayou and Cajun French Rules or up to the Bible Belt and it's 100% Country. Near NOLA it's The Who Dat Nation and the Where-Ya-Atts or Yatts as they are affectionately known. The culture here I know you all love, especially the food and music which always go hand in hand.

By the way, How's Your Mom-N-Em?

Yeah Mr wonderful just wants people coming back so he can justify his existence. No one has ever passed with first effort. :) Poor guy may never find love with that blow dry horsehoe on his head but he will keep them coming back! LOL. At least it's an easy fix but next appointment isn't until June 7th at 7am! Sweet.
