Guys,
I need to modify and install the Coyote accelerator foot pedal however I have misplaced the original one sent from Factory Five. Before I purchase a second one from Factory Five, has anyone come up with better way to solve the accelerator foot pedal problem?

Hi Damien, i was unaware ffr supplied the coyote pedal nevertheless i didn't like the idea of chopping up the pedal as shown in the build manual so i went w/ the lokar drive by wire pedal, its really nice but about 5 times more expensive than the stock one.

With a little creative re-work of the mounting bracket you should be able to mount the DBW Coyote pedal without altering it/hacking it up as FF Coyote install documentation suggests. Then you wouldn't need the FF provided pedal. You can also go with an aftermarket DBW pedal. I've had all three setups. Pictures showing the aftermarket and the stock coyote pedal without hacking up the arm.

In my experience, it would be possible to use the Coyote DBW module without modification. But it will be necessary to mount the module higher than shown in the instructions. This will take a little creativity, and the pedal portion is going to be relatively low. Check and see if you're OK with that. The Lokar DBW module looks solidly made and is more compact than the Ford module. I was seriously considering using it, but the price got me. Especially when I found you have to buy a $100+ pedal in addition to the module. Plus at least according to the sources I was able to find, it doesn't offer any technical improvement. The accelerator pedal FF supplies with their kits (and then is modified for the Coyote DBW) appears to be a Lokar knock-off. Lots of guys use a Russ Thompson accelerator pedal. I don't know how much FF charges for their pedal, but if it's more than you want to spend, I bet if you put a wanted ad on the forum someone has one sitting around.
For my build, I used the Coyote DBW module and the FF pedal. But I raised the module up some which meant I cut less off the pedal so it's close to the original length and still in a good location.

One additional note on the Lokar DBW modules... They make two of them. The first generation and the newer second generation. The second generation is has the same part number preceded by an X. The second generation is vastly improved over the first. I know, I had both. Lokar built in hysteresis to provide improved control. I found the first gen unit to be twitchy just off idle at very low speeds.
They are pricey though but do fit very nicely on the roadster.

I have the first generation Lokar module and same issue as TM. I have looked at Summit and they currently offer two Lokar modules for the Coyote: BDBWFord01 and XBDBWFord01.
I conversed with Lokar today about the difference:
Dale,
The only difference between the BDBW and the XBDBW is that the X makes the billet aluminum housing anodized black. We redesigned our unit to be able to allow for more spring pressure which is what I believe you are looking for. Either one of the parts from Summit that you listed would be the same other than color.
Thank You,

They made the spring pressure change ~3 yrs ago.
