I joined this forum to follow a family member's GTM build.
I also have been thinking that building a FF MK4 might be in my future plans so I wanted to read up and start dreaming/scheming.
I'm in Canada - based out of Edmonton AB but currently in Toronto ON for work.
Thanks.

Thanks David.
There is a vast wealth of information here. It's been cool just surfing through it.
Read your 15th Anniversary Build Thread. Never would have thought of yellow but it looks great.

Yeah, that wouldn't have been my choice either, but yellow on a roadster does look really good! I've got another thread going on right now where I'm refreshing my MKIII. About as traditional a color combo as is possible with these cars. Two completely different builds but each is cool in their own way.
Have you though about what you want to do with your build? Modern, or classic? Their are quite a few Canadians on the forum, I'm surprised no one has chimed in yet. Are you familiar with the routine to import kits into Canada?

Welcome to the forum!
Alberta has one of the largest numbers of FFR builders and owners, in Canada, as does Ontario.
If/when you decide the time is right for building a roadster, I suspect you would have a lot of assistance and advice available, if required..
Is your family member building a GTM in Canada? What's his forum handle?

David - I think I want a Modern build - albeit with some classic touches. I will probably go with a donor 302 and try to build "on the cheap" for the first build. I looked at importing and am pretty familiar. I will have a few specific questions as I go along but nothing really jumps out right now. I'm going to be taking it slow.
AC Bill - my family member is tanderson1 and he's building in Calgary AB. I move around for work. I just came out of a 2 year job in Vancouver BC and now in Toronto for 3-4 years. My company is based out of Edmonton AB. I figure I will start the build here in Toronto - I have basic tools and a 2 car garage.
