Welcome to the forum and welcome to the madness. Seriously, an unbuilt Mk1? That goes way back as you probably know. Many on here, including me, have no experience with that version. Post some pics so we can all see your project.

yeah man. one guy bought it and went as far as putting a fully built 9 inch, ha02 spin on wheels, wildwood disc's and coil overs all around then lost interest. he then sold it to a guy who went to prison, which then leads to me and i got it for only 5k so I'm not complaining at all about which model it is. i would love to post pictures of my build but i have no clue how to post images on here. if someone can help me i will.

I'm assuming it's not titled but you have the MCO (Manufacturer's Certificate of Origin)? I hope so. I don't want to be a downer, but several years ago my brother got a fire sale price for an unfinished replica (different brand) with an eerily similar story. Including the part about one of the former owners being in jail. He didn't have adequate documentation to get it titled in Oregon for several years after it was finished and even then it was a real pain.
Here is a thread about posting pictures on this forum: http://thefactoryfiveforum.com/showthread.php?18962-How-to-use-the-Image-Gallery-to-embed-pictures-in-posts. That's one way. Many (myself included) upload pictures onto a photo hosting site like Photobucket and then post the link here. Depending on your comfort level with things computer, posting pictures may or may not seem complicated.

yeah its actually a funny story bc I'm going through all of that now to find the original MCO. omg going to the shop this weekend that was building the car for the original owner and seeing if i can get his info. if i can't get that what other recourse do i have to get it registered? i mean i don't want to believe a kit like this is now dead in the water bc of something so small. I'm talking to dave at ff to see what other options i have. i mean its never an issue because i have more then 5k in suspension parts alone laying here but i really want to drive this when I'm done.

Not having a title or MCO is a big deal. Every state has different rules and procedures, but I suspect you will have a hard time. Although I don't have direct knowledge, I've heard from several others that Factory Five doesn't re-issue MCO's. They don't want to be in the business of determining ownership, which I understand. MCO's are issued only to the original purchaser. Good luck. I think you're going to need it.

Welcome to the forum ! you will love this site and you will also LOVE the building experience. I have built about 4 or 5 MK 1 kits , My first kit was in early 1996 ! If you have any question that are MK 1 specific and can't get an answer from here , PM me and i will get back to you. The only thing that may hold me back is my memory :) !!
