I am new to the forum and am picking up my roadster on May 21st. The folks at Factory Five say that I won't have any problems getting it all to fit on a 6' X 12' open trailer and my pick-up truck with a 5 1/2 ft. bed. I ordered the complete kit and lots of options. Any thoughts? Also, what size cleco rivets will need? Thanks for the help.

If the crew at Factory Five says you have enough room, believe it. They have apparently seen it all. That's what they told me when I picked up my current build last August. I used my 14 foot Serpent Express trailer and the back of our Durango with the seats folded down. Complete kit also with a number of options. It all fit. We did save a little space by taking the seats out of the boxes and wrapping them up in the cockpit. Other than the windshield, probably the biggest boxes. You way not want to do that with an open trailer though.

You will need 1/8 inch cleco's. How many is a personal choice. Probably 25-50 is plenty, although I've been known to use more. A few 3/16 inch would also be useful. Maybe 10 or so. But you won't use them too much.

Good luck with your pickup and your build. And welcome to the forum!

The body is almost exactly 6 feet wide and 13 feet long so it will have to hang out the back. If you're using a landscape type trailer with a fold up ramp you'll need to remove it for pickup.

50 1/8" Clecos is about right. Some guys like to have hundreds and fill every hole but you really only need a few per panel to get them mocked up.

Good luck!

I have 25 in each size and have used the heck out of the 1/8" size, especially when I worked on the trunk and cockpit areas.
Having 50 would have been nice, plus a few of the clamps are good to have too.
Good Luck & Congratulations On Starting This Amazing Journey!

As far as clecos, I started with a kit that had 10ea 1/8" and 15ea 3/16" clecos, I also order another 25. I found when test fitting many panels I wished I had another 25, So I recently ordered 25 more. I had not used them since I built an airplane almost a few decades, but I forgot how valuable they can be. And quite honestly, they are very cheap, maybe $15 for 25, I almost think 50 should be the minimum for anyone doing any mods.

However, if you are putting all the factory panels in as is, you probably don't need any more that 25.

If you think about it, a footbox is a square with one end open, so you have 5 panels. If you figure each panel will need at least 2 on each edge, that's 8 clecos per panel x 5 panels = 40 clecos. Then factor in that the footboxes actually have multiple angles, you need maybe another 4 a side too. that makes it pretty close to 50.
