Quick question. I installed a power steering unit I purchased from Forte, some time back, and with tires installed, the tires rub the F panels when turned full left and right. Full left and right is about 1 1/4 turns of the steering wheel. I still have the car on jack stands with the suspensions hanging in the air. I would think they should not rub when on the ground and suspension compressed. But I'm just curious whether rubbing while the suspension hangs is normal.

You didn't mention what size tires you have on the front but many tire combinations rub the f-panels at full lock. There are solutions, smaller tires are the first. If you'd like to do what I did, send me a PM and we can discuss it.

This is a common problem. Normal solution is to put travel restrictors on the rack. They are commercially available or easy to fab yourself. Option 2 is to not turn the wheel that far.

Pretty common but the reality is that in normal driving it won't be an issue. About the only time it will happen is parallel parking and tight quarters maneuvering which will be at very low speeds.

Thanks all. I thought that 1 1/4 turns was minimal enough to prevent tire rubbing on the F panels, but maybe not. And, I want to get this resolved before I do the initial alignment of the front suspension. I am back on the power steering after reading a recent post on this topic. Thanks for the nudge. I tend to place unfinished areas on a back burner. Anyway, my next steps will include pulling the rubber boots back to see whether Forte installed any restrictors, and if not, I'll pick some up at the local ford dealer or napa store. I'll install them if necessary and then drop the car to the ground to see where I'm at. I read the recent threads on setting the initial alignment, found them to be very good and thought I'd tackle it this week.

I will keep you posted and see whether I can attach some pics.

Sorry for not mentioning the wheel and tire size. I am using the 18" wheels with the 20th anniversary roadster clad in 245 Bf Goodrich Rival S tires.

I'm running 245 18's in front as well. I have no limiters and no rubbing.
