View Full Version : Front end alignment (best camber, caster, toe?)

I just had my front end aligned (again) because I had to replace the older UCA with the newer stronger version.

I told my mechanic to align it as if it were a 93 LX Mustang. He did and the car drives better but feels like it's constantly pulling left on straights. Here are the mechanics alignment specs that he measured after the alignment.

Can someone recommend optimal Camber, caster & toe for the roadster? I'm running 4-link rear, FFR UCA's and Mustang LCA's.

Well, the right side has 4 times more camber than the left. On a Mustang, you'd probably never notice that. But on a light weight, short wheel base car, you would.

I like about 5* camber, 5-7* caster, and 1/16" total toe in. If you have manual steering, use about 2-3* of caster.

Why would you use Mustang specs? It's not the same weight, wheel base or track width. There are recommended specs from Factory Five, those are always the best to start with.

With power steering go for 6 to 8 degrees positive caster, 1/2 to 3/4 degree negative camber and 3/32" toe in (be certain that it is toe in, not out).

Anything over .5 deg between left and right camber will cause a drift to the higher side. Caster will drift towards the low side. When you sit in the driver's seat, the RH camber will go even more negative and the LH will go a tiny bit more positive. I would suggest a different alignment shop, he clearly does not know what he is doing. Just because it is green does not mean it is good.
